There's definitely enough interest. I'm just going to hash out details at this point.

I would also be interested, that would be super fun.

I think *possibly* a good rule would be a limit to the number of pedals you can swap from the box.
That might be bad, what do you other guys think?
My reasoning is that if there were a few cool pedals it would give people later in line a better chance to have a swing at them.
I dunno, maybe.

THIS! I read about this when I was a lurker there.

Too risky dude IMO.

In fact running your own tourbox in general is too risky IMO. I've done it, won't do it again.

Maybe it could work like this:
I put in a pedal, it has my name on it, and someone down the line wants it.
They contact me and say what they plan to replace it with in the box.
I can say whether I think it's acceptable or not?

A general rule could be 1 in, 1 out.
That would keep the value of the box around the same and not slowly become lots of junk.

Yeah that's why I was saying the person taking should note what they are putting in to replace so it isn't a box full of ds1s or tone-loks

I think accountability is really key. It would be best to keep this small and limited to people with good trading references.

This is an intriguing idea for sure. I might be in if it ever gets finalized

Small + legit has to be essential for this to work, IMO.

Probably not going to participate in this one (for now), but I'm looking forward to watching it go. Rad idea.

Yeah, it was annoying. And to the people here who say "let's limit it to people who post regularly and that will solve the problem," you guys should know that is exactly what we did too, and the problem continued unabated. In fact, on one of the tour boxes, the guy right before me, who had a huge post count and was a regular, took a pretty decent pedal and put strings and an AB switcher in its place.

Didn't someone take an entire tourbox as well? I swear I read about that happening.

Yeah, that too. But at least that could be attributed to letting someone without a rep or a significant post count in. That's fixable (and should have been foreseeable). But even that box (which I think lasted all of 5-6 stops) had been whittled down by supposedly reputable guys taking boutique pedals and replacing them with random cheaper things, like tubes they had lying around.

At this point, I'm thinking the initial box will contain 5 pedals and have 4 participants, plus myself. Signing up means agreeing to the terms, which I'm working on. I am willing to be a space monkey.

If I hadn't just sold off most of my non-essential pedals, I'd definitely be in on this.

Here's the rules, as I see'em.

1. You get the box for a week, then you send it to the next person on the list.
2. You can/should/must trade one pedal from the box for a pedal of your own.
3. You will post in this thread what you have taken from the box and what you have put in the box.
4. The pedal you put in the box is a reflection on you. Ask yourself if you would consider it a fair trade if you were on the other end of it.
5. Only put pedals that are 100% working, in presentable condition, and make cool sounds in the trade box.

This is a trade box, not a handout. This isn't an excuse for you to unload your junky pedals for good ones. No DOD, Danelectro, Behringer, Joyo, or other bottom of the barrel pawn shop trash. Only put pedals that you would be excited for someone else to try or have in the trade box. My preference is for this to be boutique, handmade, weird, cool pedals. If you question the validity of the pedal you are putting in the box, we can always put it to a vote. Clones are fine, if they are novel in some way, be it mods to the circuit or the enclosure.

There shall be 4 participants. Minimum post count is 500. Don't be an asshole. You must be able to comply with the rules, have a pedal or two ready to swap, and be willing and able to ship the box after a week. Open to US residents only.
