how bad (or good) are modern acoustic 810s?

Post by whiskey_face »

I see them pop up for 200 - 300$ all the time on my local craigslist.

fuck, I can buy 2 of them for the price of one ampeg 810.

2 > 1 so how good or bad are they?

im not worried about power handling cause im a tube snob, so they will never see more then 200 watts peak.

mdf? cheap as fuck? I can try em at gc before I look for a used one I just wanty some doooooooom opinions first.

:edit: they sure are Purdy

Yeah, word is if you need a cab and only have a couple hundred bucks, they're fine, but if you can go with a different option you should.

I had the b200h w/ 1x15 for a while and never had an issue. I'd hit for the price.

Not going by the internet. Going on reviews from my buddies that have tried them first hand at music stores. The assumption of mdf is my own.

And by buddies I mean real live people I know and talk to in IRL not on message boards. I did do a ton of touring not too long ago. So I know a bunch of actual musicians and not just random jack offs typing on message boards here and there.

But even though you don't care for internet sources what about a forum for Acoustic Control with their users actually talking about their experiences with the new head and 810 cabs?

We used one in my last band on some pretty hardcore touring. It held up fine, and sounded outstanding. Just honestly, make sure the horn is turned off because it sounds like asshole. If you turn the horn off though, it's a punchy and super aggressive cab. You'll like it.
