This revelation came after wondering where the hell I can get a small, 3 or 4 button MIDI controller, because I've been wanting to get that damn ugly ass Yamaha MagicStomp off of my board, and I was thinking of going with something like an Alesis Quadraverb or, even better (!), the legendary Yamaha SPX-90. I love the MagicStomp, but the ground loop hum kills me, as does its Barney-purple casing, awkward shape, and the fact that the dude who owned it before me abused it (the footswitches are rusty and get stuck from time to time.
)But I'd need a way to switch presets, and the only MIDI controllers I can find are huge. My pedalboards big enough as it is, damn it!
^ One of these would be perfect for me to use, I don't even need banks, as I'd only use three or four presets (preferably with an off preset as well, but if all else fails, a small True Bypass Loop pedal should do the trick as far as OFF goes.)
I was basically wondering if anybody has ever converted one of these to work as a MIDI controller (I know the JSX uses DIN-relay switching, and I DID find THIS to help explain what each pin of the connector does http://forums.peavey.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2464) or if maybe it would be a fairly simple modification to perform.
I've never taken a good look at the Bugera footswitch, but seeing as the 333XL is pretty much a JSX clone, I was thinking maybe it uses the same cable connector???
Any help or suggestions or even links that might help me out would be greatly appreciated.
OR, maybe if anyones ever built their own MIDI footswitch... I've seen a couple homemade ones, but they're all huge with more stuff than I really need it to do...
