what pedal circuit is this, please? help needed

Post by Ro_S »

.

I'm looking for help with identyfing the following circuit. And any observations and opinions on it would be great too.

Below is a circuit diagram thingy I bodged together.

I'm not a pedal builder of any kind whatsoever and I have virtually zero knowledge about such things or electronics. I've been looking things up recently though in order to do the best I can with the diagram and identfying parts.

Any help - and corrections, no doubt - would be much appreciated.

Please feel free to find amusement at my diagram and my lack of knowledge.

The six brown things in my diagram that look like the stones out of the second Indian Jones film are actually supposed to represent resistors (is that right? resistors?). The four reddish things are those Jelly Tot sweet looking things (are they capacitors?). What are the weenie things on the right (x and y). Sorry, I need to add the component values, don't I.

thanks!

Couldn't you have just taken a photo instead? ;p

Anyway pretty sure it's a Jordon Bosstone or a clone of it.

I don't have a decent enough camera, sorry.

A Bosstone, you reckon. Thanks. I'll look into that.

There's no way that layout is correct

I've revised it.

How does this look now?

The stereo jack is always the output and the mono is the input so they are back to front.

Here's a veroboard layout of a Bosstone so you should be able to just trace the connections to get a turret board layout.

That's incorrect.

and Ro_S I'll have a look at the layout in a bit when I have more time. Quick question, did you put that together, and you're asking if the circuit looks familiar to us, or are you trying to make a turret layout based on a pedal you have?

Man the boss tone is kind of a weird circuit isn't it. I haven't looked into it before but its sort of like a weird pseudo szizlaki(sp) pair hard clipping thing isn't it.

The wiring is a mess - the board has 2 outputs? One of which is grounded? The input goes via a cap to the base of Q2? +9v straight to the emitter of Q1?

What is this thing? Some kind of experimental new physics-defying fuzz circuit? ;) Is this your new Pep Box prototype?

I created the diagram.

I'm just seeking opinions on what fuzz circuit it is or is very close to.

thanks

Oops, I was looking at it upside down  and I built a Tonebednder just a couple of days ago too

This. You also have 2 resistors labeled "Ra", 1 of which goes to nothing on one side.

Hah, it happens. I guess you could make the output jack the stereo one, as it's simply using the extra lug as a switch to disconnect the battery when nothing is plugged in, but...

I think I've chanced on a circuit digram of what it is! I saw the twin diodes and 4 identical capacitors, so looked more carfeully
