This is a cool idea. If it works I bet you could get some really fucked up artifacts from the compressor working against the gating effect of voltage starvation.Msstringthing wrote:It's going to depend on the architecture, but you could try voltage starving a reasonably lo-fi compressor that you have sitting around.
it might give you just that extra little bit of suck (I use the term with love)

Are Dyna Ross style comps effected by voltage starves? I've heard some pedals don't really change with lower voltages. But I don't know anything about it. Just talk on the dwarfcraft subforum.friendship wrote:This is a cool idea. But that reminds me, maybe I liked the BYOC so much because of the internal trimmer. You could clean it up with whatever that trimmer did but I remember going a little bit off of that for some different sounds. How easy is it to move a trimmer to an external knob?

I had a dream last night that somebody built one, which means 1) it needs to happen and 2) I'm spending too much time here.nevada wrote:Dyna Comp clone with a starve knob sounds like something people would buy, I think...

I'm kind of fascinated by the design of these, so I'll just leave it right here…not quite what you are looking for, but who doesn't like mil-spec equipment at times?
