NAD beta bass

Post by Derelict78 »

So I was given a Sunn Beta Bass today,
It's Realy noisy!
Scratch pots and all.
I'm not to concerned about the pots some cleaning I'm sure will make a big difference.
Is it worth it to go through and check caps or are these things just noisy amps?

Might wanna check the caps. I remember mine being a little noisy when I (briefly) had it, but it's probably an age thing. Congrats buddy!

It does have a unique sound and now I understand why they have become so popular in the doom/stoner scene. Very angry sounding amp but yeah need some cleaning big time!

Congrats bro!!!! If its scratchy and noisey its worth atleast having a tech look at it and make sure there are no issues you should be concerned with.

I did.
I install solar and solar hot water systems.
While I was hooking up a system in a basement I noticed it and than asked the home owner if he would like to sell it.
He said "No but you can have it" :wha?:
so yeah not a GREAT amp but a free one that needs a little TLC.

Pair that with an HM-2 and you got grindcore-doom goodness! That's the combo the guitarist from Catheter uses, with a couple of 80's or early 90's Laney cabs. Crushing.
