Traded a Sunn Beta Lead for this today. Only got to play it for a few minutes, sounded way killer
Head cabinet is long gone, but, someone had already replaced all the shitty switches and potentiometers so.. win?
I might have lost a little in the trade, we'll see tomorrow when I get to crank it
Any love for the Sovtek Mig 50s?
the Sunns are decent little amps but they're in a bubble phase right now with all the doom/hipster cats.
Very true. I bought the Beta Lead a few years ago for $100. Put it on Craigslist and people are offering me $400 for it. Absurd. It has some cool mojo, but it isn't that great.
I played the MIG today for an hour or so, it is incredibly clean. A one trick pony, not much in the EQ range department, but it sounds great. Plugged into both inputs, turned the both volumes to about noon, felt like my eardrums were going to explode.

Stoked
I find the difference between both channels changes up the amps voicing considerably (on mine anyway, they're not all exactly the same amp), but yeah, running both channels sounds super hot.
And yeah, Russian watts are worth more on the international watts and decibel exchange, apparently.
WWPD?

One of my friends uses one for three bands - thrash hardcore/ grindcore / black metal. He uses different pedals with each band, gets a good sound for each. I say good trade for a Beta. His has been really reliable too.

Do you know how old the glass is? I think EQ knobs have a diminished effect when your tubes are worn out.

seen some used Sound Citys sold locally - one went for 1000€. That's way over 1000 bucks lol
never seen any cheap used Peaveys in my life here in CZ
my london city was 350 EUR - but about 6 years ago. No idea how they sell now. But more money is too much for the build quality... Same for Sound City and Sovtek stuff imho.
