Yeah I did! That's quite a trip it's had.Achtane wrote:Arc Flash doesn't get enough love.
Did you buy mine, monkeydancer? Has it made its way around the world now?

Yeah, but there are a lot of shit sounds in a FF, and it can be a challenge dialling in stuff that isn't bat shit crazy. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a fucking rad fuzz. I just wouldn't begin with it (although I'm going at this from a theoretical perspective and you're going from personal experience which in this case is a lot more relevant so I should just shut up).futuresailors wrote:Arc flash is rad. The fuzz factory was my first or second fuzz (that or a shoegazer...), and I'd still heartily recommend one. They've got some great sounds in them, and teach you the way of the knob twiddler. Plus you can get one from GC to mess around with and then return if it's not your bag.

When you have a dirt pedal with impedance problems it sounds awful -- farty and choked at the same time in the worst way possible.cedarskies wrote:Thanks for all the suggestions / comments. It's helped expand my research process a bit. Also possibly made me a bit more confused...
Mainly because I'm not really entirely sure what I want. I'm looking to expand my sound palette a bit with this. I've realized my pedalboard has very little in the tone shaping department and would like to get some new sounds out of my soundmakers. Not entirely sure of what nature, yet. Do I want a nasty lead or to make big sounds bigger? Is a fuzz better suited for a certain purpose vs an overdrive?
I'm not sure I understand how the different pedals will react with different types in inputs. Is it simply a matter of getting the input volume to be similar? What will it sound like when behaving poorly? Just weaker or more intense or something else entirely?

So I think I'm going to start things off by combining these two. Gonna DIY a little Great Destroyer vero to see how I want fuzz to exist in my life. Seems like an inexpensive way to get some first hand fuzzperience. Got some GAS for Arc Flash and feel like I really need to get some playtime with a Muff before I die but we'll see where this Destroyer takes me.Derelict78 wrote:The great destroyer was my first fuzz.
I suggest that.
