then spent the day cutting and splicing to fit my pedalboard.... takes time, patience, and soldering ability, but doesn't get any cheaper than that, still had cable left over to splice into a 12ft instrument cable and cleaned up my pedalboard nicely.... not bad

Hmm, so you just cut up a livewire cable and turned it into to patch cables? Interesting...

Yes bought 30 feet and started measuring to fit... Made me reorganize my pedalboard and rethink my whole layout.... They work well, durable and bendable, if you can afford the next level up in quality do it, haven't gigged so can't tell you if these pickup radio mars In a basement club... If I remember I'll snap some pics.... Let me know if you decide to do it and need advice...

I use those black and blue Live Wire patch cables you get from guitar center. They work fine for me, don't cost too much, pre-built, and have lifetime warranties. Good enough for me.

My cables are fine for the moment (Canare to and from board, dimarzio cheapies from GC in between pedals), but I'm thinking that I might someday want to re wire everything for fun. I do want a longer cable from my guitar to my board. It's 12 feet, which is fine, but not super mobile.

I buy my stuff at Markertek. I use Canare cable and Neutrik ends, both of which they have.

For guitar cables, I use Canare GS-6 (as in, from guitar to pedals). After that, I use a pretty thin 2-wire mic cable.

And you can connect that to any mono TS 1/4" plug. I use the Neutrik X Series. They're a bit large but the way they're made, they're really solid.

Most of my patch cables are from RatShit. :idk:

the others are just random cables that came with purchases, home-made ones built from longer cables, and some from eBay.

This! I want to build my own cables, but the few times that I researched it, I was unable to find a way to do so that would be cheaper than buying them. Where should I be looking?

Well, I just bought a really long (12 ft?) no-name instrument cable from ebay, and I've used it for contact mics, patch cables, guitar cables, etc.

I just bought connectors at RS... but RS is overpriced.

Also, I've scavenged wires from other audio cables in the past.

I just read this and it gave me a flash back of a time when I used to use 2 22ft cables in a room that's about 15x15 ft...

lawl.

you know, the more I think about it, I'm pretty sure that cable I used was longer than 12 feet...

there were 2 separate occasions where I jacked 2 big, long-ass bundled instrument cables from Wal-Mart which were at least 12+ feet...... that was really interesting. And when they were out of those, I went for the shorter ones.

I see that musiciansfriend now has a 4 pack of 20 ft. instrument cables for $20! Definitely cheaper than any bulk cable that I've found (though I'm sure you probably get what you pay for, etc, etc.) I think I'm going to have to buy some of those flat right angled ends and give my pedalboard a makeover...
