I'm looking for a flanger or phase shifter that can go crazy! I want lots of knobs on it too for ultimate tweakability. Suggestions? Price is not an issue, but I would like some cheap ideas as well.
In return, I will say thanks and the best suggestion gets 100 points from me
I forsee lots of flanger hoax recommendations. It's a great pedal.
I prefer the combo of the ibanez AF2 and the blackout whetstone for their many modes (they cover everything from phase/flange/chorus/vibrato/univibe/tremolo/ring mod) and the uneven asymmetrical sweep each has. Plus the whetstone on pads is the shit (nearly a minute peak to peak )
My problem with the flanger hoax is that it can be too out there. The af2/whetstone can get really wacky, but they can also do spot on a/da flanger or small stone tones when you want them to.
what is the 'out there' phaser anyway. i never really thought about this before. obviously the EHX Flanger Hoax does the 'out there' flange; the 4ms Tremulus Lune does the 'out there' tremolo et cetera...
The flanger hoax can actually do some pretty normal sounding stuff as well. It also has two phasers built in that can be turned on or off in addition to the dual flange lines.
As for phasers that are "out there", the whetstone has got a ton of different modes, the moog and stereo polyphase can do some pretty cool things, and the ibanez flying pan is supposed to be really freakin cool if you can run two amps. The clips I've heard are beastly
i know it is proguitarshop, but i just looked at that demo for the Whetstoneand i was pretty nonplussed. the only thing that seem half-way 'out-there' was when the Low-Pass Filter was engaged. are phasers just better off tame.
