I'd love to. they were here last time when The Seer just came out... but that was what draw my attention to them in the first place so you might say at that time, I was just getting into them and it was a lot to digest... so I didn't go

shame on me... this time, I'm not missing it for shit

Listened to the stream yesterday and it was great. There was a bit of it that I wasn't really into (the 35 minute one, but I tend to not like longer things like that anyway) but most of it was amazing imo. Gonna have to buy this when I have the funds.

I'm really keeping myself from listening to it, it's enough I heard the first two tracks and it was a mindblowing experience for me and I REALLY want to enjoy that and listen to the album only when I get the record

fucking weird maybe, but i REALLY want to lose my shit over it and have the experience as unspoiled as possible?

Congrats!

I mean the two tracks I heard sounded like as if um... James Brown started doing noise rock or something

so obviously I can't wait to hear the whole album

No, I understand where you're coming from. I don't feel the same about it, but I can see why you'd just want to have a chance to just listen thru it thru your proper listening set up. And yeah, it really is a great album. The best two hours that I've had in the last 6-7 months. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did. :thumb:

And I'm in the same boat as you as far as seeing them live goes. A couple of friends had linked me to some videos (Michael Gira doing "Blind" at a solo gig and "Coward" in 2012) right around when The Seer was released and I didn't properly get into them (not enough to think of myself a fan anyway) until spring/summer of 2013. But yeah, I'm really excited about seeing them when they come thru Chicago. Everyone describes it as an amazing experience, so I'm sure that I'll love the show (if the sound doesn't destroy me anyway  ).

Haha well I didn't have much friends who'd listen to Swans, so I sort of had to get into it on my own. Rocky road, but I made it :) It helps to have people to talk about it though. It's an experience and it's a really unique band

And I'm not surprised a band like ths can change your views on music live... damn it changed my views too and that was just listening to albums and seeing a few live videos

Yeah, I'm glad that I had a couple of friends to link me because I probably would have been overwhelmed if I didn't have that (all dat material + variety). Gave me a decent idea of where to start from so it's been a pretty smooth ride with getting into them and they quickly became one of my favorite bands.

Yeah, I totally agree with you on them changing my views. It really changed my views on what music could actually be, and honestly, what it should be (as far as how intense it should feel) imo. Definitely glad that I'm getting a chance to see them too and that it's not one of those things where I was too late for that opportunity and likely won't get a chance to experience it live.

this 1000x times

it's tricky though, because it only shows you how lazy most people are to make anything that makes a mark, anything with an attitude you know

Yeah, definitely. That's what happens whenever I get into musicians/bands that have a distinct vibe to their work. I end up becoming much more cynical when it comes to music, and actually disliking a lot of the bands that I end up hating. "Oh, another 'heavy' rock band that has a singer that listened to too much pearl jam when they were growing up?" "Oh yeah, this other band is sooo cool because they don't even seem to be into what they're doing...".

But yeah, most people could learn a thing or two from Swans.

Sorry for the small rant.

This album is off da hook (do the kids still say that)? Either way, it's true.

USPS is in the process of delivering my copy to the wrong address. I'll be lucky if I have it by Monday.

My condolences. What a dick move. It's really good.

Edit, I have that shirt too by the way. No cat though.
