Good to know.

I've also been mildly interested in the Origin Effects SlideRig, but that's no small investment.

I've heard the Diamond is amazing. I want to try one, but I might settle for the Mooer version.

I just watched a video of The Accountant, and it sounds fucking cool. Seems from the YouTube video that it has a really cool compressed tape thing going on. Does it do that in person as well? If so, this needs to be on my board.

I've tried a few (CS-1, CS-2, CS-3, Dyna Comp, Custom Comp, Black Finger, the Warden) and I fell in love with the CS-1. It is a very pronounced and 'effecty' compressor, but I love the ducking effect I can get by placing it after reverb and delay.

Not a big fan of compressors, but Eventide added a free eq/compressor to the H9 so I guess I can use that if I need one.

it definitely sounds more like a studio caliber compressor than a guitar stompbox.

He certainly seems to know his stuff about compressors. I found his pages very useful. Credit to him. If there's one effect type I don't think I ever could be enthusiatic about it's compressors. :erm:

I just got the MXR Bass Compressor, and it's looking like it's a keeper. I used to avoid compressors like the plague, but saw a guy a couple of weeks ago with ungodly tone who had one on the whole time, so I thought I'd give it a shot. The MXR had good reviews and a nice feature set, so I gave it a shot. Thankfully, it also has great instructions, which made it really easy to realize the sound I wanted and dial it in quickly. I've got it set to be more of a limiter, because I've always had a really "heavy" right hand, and I clank out pretty quickly if I'm not careful. With this setting, I still get plenty of attack, but it's now consistent. None of those CLANK(note) moments, if you know what I mean. Still plenty of dynamics and punch. Doesn't mess with my fuzz, and my bass sounds like my bass.

I could see it working well with a number of instruments, and given the number of compression ratios it offers, as well as the ability to fine tune the attack & release (and the input/output gain) it's pretty damned flexible.
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

I had one on my board for months, loved it, flipped it because I wanted something smaller and with a lighter touch. What compressorguydude says here is spot on, plus the King has the sweet volume swell and trem options.

If Pigtronix remade the King in a pedalboard friendly package and cut the less-than-useful bells and whistles, I'd totally buy one again.

The xotic is pretty sweet. I hardly turn it off, particularly when performing live. Makes up for lack of controls up front via a series of internal dip switches which allow you to tailor it to your specific needs and then just leave it. I have mine set to what the manual called "humbucker sparkle". It does exactly that pretty well.

That said I love the Diamond Comp, it's pretty amazing. I only chose the SP as it wasn't that far away and won out in real estate and $$$$.
The Philosopher's king is also really really really cool if you think you'll have a use for all the extra functionality and whatnot.
