What's the most fender'y Gibson?

Post by frigid midget »

I'm lately playing stuff that benefits more from gibson style guitars. New band, new sound, etc.

Till now I've been looking for fenders with humbuckers, but maybe I'm overlooking a couple gibson options.

For starters, are there any les pauls or sg's out there with the longer scale leght? They can't look gaudy, and have to be somewhat easily available and affordable...

Cheers.

Have you thought outside of Fender and Gibson?

I know G&L makes the ASAT Deluxe that's 25.5 with Humbuckers and the Tribute version is a steal.

I'm sure there are plenty more out there too.

Gibson Marauder or S-1.

Although, I'm not sure about the scale length on those.

I'll admit I'm shallow enough to pick a guitar based on its looks. The marauder is beyonde ugly impo, thanks all the same;p

And nope, it doesn't have to be a fender or gibbo, but there's really very few non-fender/gibson guitars I really dig. G&L happens to be one of the few brands I do like actually, though that particular one is already a bit too gaudy looking for my taste:s

You might have pointed me in the right direction though. Just checked the rest of the tribute series. That 'fallout' might be a winner, though I'll have a REALLY hard time finding a used one locally. Which is the other reason why I asked about gibson/fender options. Availability is sort of an issue in this sh*t town:s

Don't forget the Vox, guitars called Marauder always turn out a little odd for some reason >_<

I love how Vox would just ram all their effects into the guitars they made :D

I know you knew I knew, but any excuse to post that hot Marauder's a good one.

Also, these Vox guitars totally remind me of the Kay "State of Ohio" axes (sometimes described as a cross between Fender & Gibson. Pretty sure that has a 25.5 inch scale.)

I'm really not sure what you're looking for but maybe a firebird.

Or an sg with p90s or one of those guitars that are basically an LP but with one p90 at the bridge and have a different name that I cant think of.

Edit: its Melody Maker

I'm not 100% sure, but I *think* the main reason why I don't mesh with gibsons might be the scale lenght thing. If there were something out there like a 25.5" SG with P90s, I'd be all over it like a mahfakking rash.

So I'm leaning more towards a tele with humbuckers, fender has a couple different ones if I'm not mistakin.

Either that or I'm building me a warmoth 25.5" SG or something:)

I think Heritage did some 25,5" scale guitars, but they're also pretty scarce I guess...

Gibson Nighthawk is 25.5

If I had the need for a Fender'y Gibson and/or had the cash lying around, I'd go for :
http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electri ... ender.aspx
Ash/maple/maple. Single Coils. B-Bender. Basically a LPjr that got knocked up by a chick'n picker.
