Topic that's been done like a million times

Post by Jwar »

Hey you sexy, sexy ILF peoples. I want to make a better functioning board, something that is not a Pedaltrain. It's hard to hit pedals when I want to and it's super tight. Unlike my anus. :)

Anyway, there are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many routes I could go with this that it's kind of overwhelming. I do need a board because I'm planning on jamming with a few different people this summer and I don't want to lug around all my pedals.

SOOOOOOOOO I could go DIY ( I suck at building shit though) or custom.

If I went custom, I want to know who. Who won't charge me 500 bucks for a pedalboard. Does anyone have a good experience with pedal boards that aren't ridiculously expensive?

I'm looking to do something pretty big so I can expand and add a looper to control most of my pedals.

So any suggestions?

I've been pondering doing this for awhile. I just wanted a cheaper alternative or more sensible one to a PT Pro. I mean I don't have the cash right now but probably will sometime, but don't like spending a bunch of cash on stuff like boards. UGH. Especially when I'm going to have to buy more patch cables, another power supply or two, and velcro (which is fucking expensive. I hate velcro).

There is an Ikea being built a mile from my work. I wish they'd finish the damn thing. I'm going to seriously look into this because it seems like an awesome idea!

I've been in your position before and ya two boards just works better. Easier to debug and easier to switch.

I also prefer two boards, generally use one medium and one small. Easier to move than one giant board and like bronzetalon noted it's far easier to change things up and debug that way. I keep the small board the same pretty much and make changes on the larger one when needed.

A true bypass looper is good too, let's you wire it up a little cleaner and really helps with complex switching.

I thought I posted a build thread on TB a million years ago, but it might have died during the recent transition. Gorms are cheap, sturdy, and easy to build/customize. They also come in sizes perfectly suited for the task!

I'll dig around to see if I can find some old progress pics.

:edit: Found it! http://www.talkbass.com/threads/my-ikea ... st-7432343

(omg I hate tb)

I like case type boards, I just add a shelf for the back row to raise it up and hide my powering shit :thumb:

My tiny pedalboard is a shelf slat I found in the street while biking home one day.
Maybe just try to find lots of large shelves while biking around?

I just don't want to go there and I don't gig since I got pedal obsessed so it hasn't been a compelling need to velcro things down. All the same, having an organized, semi-fixed setup is appealing lately. Bedroomboards seems kinda perfect for that.
