Is it worth having a Super Fuzz (standard clone) and a FZ-2?

Title says it all. I have a SuperFuzz clone on the way and I just saw the Hyper Fuzz in the B/S/T so I was considering trading my currently unused HM-2 for it. Talk me into or out of it ILF. I'm depending on you.

This is the exact reply I was expecting. I'm really torn, on one hand my HM-2 is a beloved beast, on the other hand, people have been raving about the FZ-2 lately. My IC Muff just itches the scratch for thick gnarly fuzz. If I miss it too much I can get another HM-2 locally... I think I've gotta do it.

Suppose it depends on what you're doing......or if this is just an adventure in GAS.

The HM-2 is way more practical and sounds good.
The FZ-2 is crazy.....either too many much mids or too many little mids....boost is cool though.
The Verellen Big Spider is similar, but not nearly as octavey glitchy digitally nasty as the FZ-2.

+1 for DM. The HEAVIEST pedal I've ever had the fortune to play. Theres a tourbox right now for the Idiot box stuff with this in it, maybe see if you can get in on that if its not too late Thurber?

Unfortunately I don't think I've been around long enough to quality for tour box action. I'm leaving to jam with a friend right now, bringing my beloved Rat/IC Muff combo pedal and the HM-2 (and my Blue Box) as my dirt sources. This will be the final test. Depending on how awesome the HM-2 sounds at reasonable levels and how much I want to step on it next to the Muff, its fate will be determined.

I actually a/b'd my FZ-2 with a Wattson FY-6 clone, which is probably one of the closest Superfuzz clones out there as far as I know of.

Sold the Wattson in a heartbeat. Great superfuzz clone and all, but the FZ-2 is just beefierwilderbiggerlowernastier. More gain, more balls, a little less octavy/klangy, if that makes any sense at all. Impo it's not worth getting both a superfuzz clone as well as an FZ-2, unless maybe if you're in a 60's garageband and want a seperate board for your dooù/slude/trash band.

If you can't just keep 'em all, just sell the HM-2. They're easy enough availble in case you regret the decision later on and want to get another one.
