Center Positive With A 1 Spot

Post by chuckjaywalk »

So, I just got one of the original run EQD Tone Reaper fuzzes and while I love it, I don't love having to unplug the input cable every time I use it. It is center positive, which means I cannot daisy chain it with my other effects. Impetuously, and half awake, I ordered a second 1 Spot just to use with the Reaper.

Do I need to use the center positive (Line 6) adaptor that came with my first 1 Spot?

Will it work?

Yes, as long as it's 9V and the power consumption doesn't take it above what the one spot can deliver (miliamp rating) you should be fine. I have an adapter for the regular sized EHX Big Muff Pi which is also center positive and a different shape.

yea the line 6 adapter (the red one right?) will work w/ center positive.

i vaguely recall someone here saying that they use the center + adapter on the same 1 spot w/ their center negative pedals and not having any issues?

NONONONO DON'T DO that

They're meant to work with the one spot just fine, but you just can't daisy chain them with center negative pedals. Use that adapter and you will fry the pedal.

He said he ordered a second 1spot for the Reaper. It's all good, Donnie.

i think what he is saying is that don't chain your center positive and center negative pedals together on the same one spot. if u use 2 one spots (1 for neg. 1 for pos.) u should be fine.

I have a second just for the Tone Reaper. I will use the positive adaptor and only power the Reaper with it. I'm assuming this is the proper course.

Yeah, I was just giving a heads up because I did the same thing with an EQD Sound Shank. Does not need the adapter, only a separate 1 spot.
