Re: Current Happenings
Hey it is also worth mentioning that the tailpieces and bridge frame SHOULD be ready any day now! Once I have those I still meed to have the saddles made but that is an easy part.
Also the pickguard blanks are at the cutting shop and they are finalizing the drawings on those so I should have pickguards ready for anodizing in a week or so.
Finally for anyone who ordered a tee shirt from the fundraiser the shirts are mailed out!
So if you haven't received your goodies from the fundraiser please let me know!!!

Yes indeed! Additionally I am working on getting two of the ill-fated 12-string guitars finished up as 6-string guitars. Those should be done sometime this week and will be available at a reduced price since they will be full of non-standard features and such.

Re: Current Happenings
Wow that arrived quicker than I thought it would! Glad it made it to Sweden so quickly!
So here is where I'm at currently:
Almost done with the first two 12-6-string conversions.
All I meed to do is get some pickups made, wire them up and install pickguards, put on nameplates and truss rod covers, oh and I should probably make a nut for each one.
Then they can get strings and setups.
These guitars will be interesting. Obviously the body shape is a composite with Coquette and Socialite body wings. They have satin finishes, 1-3/4" nut widths, fender string-through bridges, white powder coated pick guards, and long headstocks with 6 plugged holes.
I am thinking about using some of the leftover Dynamo pickup plates as logos on these which would give even greater quirkiness and collectability to them.
What do you all think? Should they be badged as Nelsons or as Dynamos??
These will be offered for less than a Coquette so there are savings to be had. I will offer them for less simply because due to all ofnthe quirky features I know I'll not get full price. That's also why I did satin finishes and white guards; I didn 't want to put all the extra labor into gloss finishes and gold guards only to take more of a loss.
I just want to get these finished up and out the door so I can put the whole 12-string experiment behind me. :-)

Re: Current Happenings
maybe use the Dynamo plate to cover the truss rod? I like the Nelson badge more for the headstock!

Re: Current Happenings
The truss rod cover idea is a good one and it did cross my mind but the problem is two-fold.
1) the holes for the screws are too close to the corners and near the nut the screws would probably pop through the edge of the headstock.
2) the mounting holes would need to be enlarged and drilling in stainless steel is a bitch!!!

I really just want a 12 string, I hate being financially responsible.

Finish one as a 12 string, and wait for Colin to be irresponsible.

The sad thing is I've been seriously thinking about a way to make it work for the last hour or so. If I sold my Socialite (which I don't particularly want to do), as well as an acoustic I don't use much and a pedal or two, I could probably do it. I've never had a 12 string, seems like it would be a lot of fun.
