Re: Dooming with non-doom guitars?
25.5" scale Jagmaster is my main, but some of my favorite guitars on the planet to rock the heavy with are Gretsch hollowbodies.

I manage some really fucking heavy tones with my Ibanez strat. I play an SG most of the time, but with a couple dirt pedals and my RedBear the strat sounds fat as hell. Took me a while to get accustomed to it, and was trying to flip it when it grew on me and I figured out how to get some dope tones with that praise and worship fucker.

Half of my clips are done with a 5 watt amp and a Schecter C1. Riffs indeed.

I had a Schecter C-1 Elite for a few years. I miss that guitar, it was pretty ballin' for a guitar with EMGs (81/89 combo). The 89 is actually a rad pickup.

Had a buddy give me a Schecter Damien special. Played really fucking good, hated the 81 in the bridge, but the neck 85 actually sounded really fucking good through the beta lead i was playing at the time. But alas, it had the most hideous flame inlay down the whole neck. Couldn't play it out of the house.

Mine is an Elite as well, complete with the douchey abalone binding. It has the JB/Jazz knockoffs in it. I left it in my car one time for like a fucking week during the summer when I was "homeless" all the wax melted out of the pickups onto the case it was in. Sounds awesome, so I have no intentions of replacing the pickups. Or the guitar.
