Dooming with non-doom guitars?
The "traditional" doom guitars are big slabs of mahogany: LPs and SGs, and designs based on those models. Obviously, that's not the only thing that posters here are playing, given recent discussions about Tele GAS, etc. Who's playing other guitars for doom regularly? What is it about those guitars that you like in a doom context? Does it even matter what guitar you're using, or is it all about the amp and dirt boxes?

7 strings, played slowly.

Re: Dooming with non-doom guitars?
In my experience it's more about the amps and dirt. I don't have a LP or SG and never really cared if I ever got one. I use Jacksons and Deans more than anything else. Hell I've even used BC Richs to doom on. If anything is more about those strings and the tuning on those guitars, cause all my stuff is the same ol stock setup. I've never changed anything out on any of them.

My SG might sound more evil, but my tele (a 59' and a JB duncan humbuckers) works great with doom. As long as the guitar has nice sustain, you should be good to go

I've been dooming on a Japanese Jazzmaster with a Novak P90 in the bridge, and a rat into a 60's Fender Twin with a shitty bassman ext. cab. Dimed, sounds fucking amazing.
