troll seeks advice on effects loop/pedalboard schtuff.
hey fuzzers, been a while since i posted here, but my trolling is of a supernatural level, so it's all good.
just really been a busy bee.
so yeah, i got a coupla' questions for all you pedal loving geniuses:
back story-
i recently purchased a pedalboard and some pedals, (haven't used floor effects live in like 15yrs but now have a need for it live).
what i got is a pedaltrain nano and volto power supply, (awesome), and some mooer time based effects, (verb, delay, flange), as well as a mooer clean boost and a TC polytune mini.
got all the stuff yesterday and put it on the board with the crappy velcro enclosed, (again i could use some advice on better velcro too, feels shabby).
the order- guitar, TC polytune mini, mooer boost, flanger, delay, and verb, going into an orange th30. the amp is at the space, so i have a week until i can finally try it... THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!
QUESTION ONE: better velcro options? anyone used 'industrial strength' velcro, godlyke power grip? thoughts?
QUESTION TWO, (actually a multiple query): I want to keep cables minimal,(some shows may require me flying and using club amps), so i want to run the whole board with two cables into the loop and one cable into the front of the amp for my guit. simple.
given that; will my polytune track the tuning ok between the preamp and power amp? will my boost push volume between the preamp and the power amp?
any and all advice is sincerely appreciated!
stay fuzzy-

"industrial strength velcro": Extreme Industrial Strength VELCRO by VELCRO is extreme, the glue wont come off and the velcro doesn't want to either
You mean like a loop pedal so all your pedals are in one loop you can turn on and off? As for the tuner I have no idea, I don't think I have even run a gain effect into a tuner if that is what you are asking

Godlyke Power Grip looks like it's just rebranded 3m Dual Lock, either way stuff looks great but I dont't wanna damage the finish on my pedal's getting the regular old velcro off.
I don't see why your tuner would track any differently in the effects loop. Putting the boost in the effects loop will push the power amp, should have a similar effect to turning up the master volume on yer amp assuming it's got one

thanks on the velcro advice, and as far as 'loop', i mean an amplifier effects loop.Blackened Soul wrote:"industrial strength velcro": Extreme Industrial Strength VELCRO by VELCRO is extreme, the glue wont come off and the velcro doesn't want to either![]()

I wouldn't put a drive or gain booster pedal in the amp's effects loop, unless what you have is a proper clean volume boost type pedal (I didn't think Mooer do one of those though) - but even then I'd probably put it before the amp, especially if it's a tube amp. I wouldn't put a tuner in the fx loop either.

the mooer is an xotix ep booster clone-Ro_S wrote:I wouldn't put a drive or gain booster pedal in the amp's effects loop, unless what you have is a proper clean volume boost type pedal (I didn't think Mooer do one of those though) - but even then I'd probably put it before the amp, especially if it's a tube amp. Is it the white 'pure boost' Mooer model that you have? I thought that was a Xotic RC Booster knockoff. With the gain at zero, that can act as a clean volume boost type booster, with adjustable eq, yes. I don't believe the EP Booster is a clean boost though - it imparts gain and is based on the preamp of an old Echoplex tape delay or something.betacloud wrote:the mooer is an xotix ep booster clone-Ro_S wrote:I wouldn't put a drive or gain booster pedal in the amp's effects loop, unless what you have is a proper clean volume boost type pedal (I didn't think Mooer do one of those though) - but even then I'd probably put it before the amp, especially if it's a tube amp. The correct answer is Guitar > Pedals > Amp... The "industrial strength" velcro from home depot works great and I can always get it off by rolling... Put the fuzzy side on the board and the grip side one the pedals...

Re: troll seeks advice on effects loop/pedalboard schtuff.
I wouldn't say there's any 'correct' answer about pedal placement. But I'd put the timed based effects in the amp's fx loop, ideally; and the Pure Boost before the amp.sonidero wrote:The correct answer is Guitar > Pedals > Amp...

Re: troll seeks advice on effects loop/pedalboard schtuff.
*UPDATE*
so i had a jam at the space and the pedals sound fantastic!
here's what i came up with.
the tuner would get confused in the effects loop, so it's going in the front of the amp. up front it locks hard and smooth. it's a high gain preamp so i think the harmonics were messing with the tracking. oh well...
the boost when in the loop is a very powerful, uncolored volume boost, you were right Fuzz_Pi, it's like a master volume, but with way more compressed volume, (take that drummer!!!), but in the front of the amp just sounds like an overdrive with little change in volume, even if cranked. so there it stays in the loop.
the verb and delay were crystal clear in the loop, so there they stay.
the flanger was a bit too much in either, not my style so taking it off the board.
so in summary;
tuner in the front of the amp, boost, delay, and verb in the loop.
now i gotta get a few angled cables and i'm all set.
i'd like to thank you all for your input. love this board.
peace,
carl
