I entered a noise board last year, forget who ended up winning. May enter again but I'm heading into the studio this weekend and my board is a mess.

Pretty much comes down to a popularity contest anyway. I'd love to see someone win who doesn't use the same stuff as everyone else and actually uses their board - as in they didn't assemble it solely for the contest.

Only room for 1 of my 3 manglers on the battle board...I'm torn betwen these two.

Discuss? DM's got the rare/insane sounding mojo, but the SM is my go to fuzz.
I'm avoiding adding my secondary board with all the manglers/dwarfcraft/skreddys/eqds into the competition, people would laugh at the insane amount of dirt I keep on tap.

This is totally nerdtastic, but I would go with the Synth Mangler for compositional reasons - the yellow and black will really pop. While the DM is totally cool, it's not as visually punchy, and could end up blending in with the rest of the pedals. And no-one wants that!

almost this... I was going to suggest you just put whichever of the two look the best with your board, and i agree that by itself the SM has more visual pop. The people who judge won't know or care the sonic difference between the two, they'll just acknowledge you have a crazy noisy devi pedal

hehe I kinda agree about the pop.

Honestly it doesn't matter who wins this year since the prizes are random...but given that the builders contributed such nice stuff this year I'd like to take it seriously.
(Devi, a workhorse? You are crazy. :omg: )

Prizes are random? I thought there was some sort of voting process... Well, I may have to submit my board to the cheap category after all!

Yep, the winners of the categories just get bragging rights. The prizes are a random drawing for all of the contestants (non-builder contestants, I think).

Is it just me or is this actually a bit sad? A competition to show off what cool pedals you can afford. Nothing to do with how they sound, whether you produce half-decent music, etc.
ILF pedals: DE Eye of God, Mellowtone Wolf Computer, Mellowtone Singing Tree LE, Fuzzhugger Arc Flash Oscillator, DSc Miniberator, Mysterious J boost/cut/tremolo pedal

What kind of pisses me off is that Devi's Workhorse fuzz is a prize. That in itself is awesome, but you know so middle age, SRV wanna-be, douchebag is going to win it and get pissed that he didn't win the Analogman KOT, and sell the Workhorse for $1000!

You know that is what's going to happen. :grumpy:

Devi's workhorse is the main reason I'm taking it seriously.
At first I just wanted to help planning to ease the load on Kayzer and Neoflox because I think the planners always get the shitty end of the deal.

But Devi (and a few others) are donating some serious prizes this year, and a lot of people are sorta taking this thing as a joke and throwing random pedals on a board to win free swag.
I think if Devi takes it seriously enough to offer a workhorse (brilliant troll marketing aside), we should do so as well.
Yes, the prizes are random, but you really kill the spirit of the contest submitting joke boards, and you'll probably never see such nice prizes again.

Still, feel free to kick me from ILF when you see my board. I'm sure all sorts of lulz and loss of indie cred will ensue.
