EHX Germanium 4 burg moof

Post by friendship »

Anybody use this? I was looking into one when they came out but disappeared into a k-hole of other pedals. I understand it's not really anything like the Big Muff, which is fine by me. I wonder about its potential as a gritty texture factory and stacking capabilities. I already have a pedal that does voltage starve and I like that effect a lot so that's cool. I've never used a bias pot but that sounds fun as hell too.

what's up

I got one when it was released and yeah it's not Muffy at all. It was a long time ago but I remember it being very good at garagey 60's vibe fuzziness on the distortion side but I also remember not caring for the OD side at all >.>

Cool shit. Do you remember what it was about the OD side that didn't rub your rhubarb?

I had a bandmate who owned one. Definitely a garage rock fuzz machine. Had some cool textures to it for sure, and it stacked well with my other fuzzes when we recorded in studio.

Cool, I'd be mostly using it for recording, since I'm not playing live these days.

I've got one. Pretty cool sounds, big range of sounds for sure. The volts knob is the coolest part. I'd say it sounds best with humbuckers, single coils sound a bit ice picky with this one.
I'm using it as a bass distortion too, the OD side gets you that LCD Soundsystem / soulwax grit, the distortion side is just crazy.

Regarding the OD side, I like it by itself, but when combined with the distortion side... Well I can't find any sounds I like...

there's a decent PGS demo on YouTube if you haven't checked it out already.
