letsgocoyote wrote:alot of vintage fuzz pedals label the gain or fuzz control as 'expander'

its funny how different companies name that control somethign different, i think expander sounds cool. you know gain/drive/distortion/fuzz/texture/sustain/expander/depth arre sorta synonimous on fuzzes

Yay
I think it's cool when a company names the tone as filter (a la RAT) but when I glance past one like that in a store I always think "Whoah a fuzz/envelope filter, cool! Oh, wait...."

Just ordered a mini wolf cpu from fuzzhugger. 79 dollars!

Am very excited. Can't wait. I would have liked to have bought a big fuzzhugger wolf computer or a Mid fi Glitch computer or a Bit mangler or something crazy like that but I have no money at all!

I hope the mini CPU can glitch and atari freak out as much as it's big brother!

I humbly suggest that the Mini wolf CPU is the most inexpensive crazy fuzz glitch thing available on the planet.... I think. Er prove me wrong!

I built a first prototype tonight. Well really, I built a modified Jumbo Tonebender clone for my bro-in-law. With the tone control. It sounds rad.
It also gave me a chance to see how it sounds without the tone control. So I have an idea where I am going to take it. Need to mess with the voicing and such before it's ready. A stock Jumbo Tonebender (or big muff for that matter) with the tone stack cut out is just too warm sounding. Probably just need to pull a tone wicker mod on it. It may evolve to be more different of a circuit than that even, i imagine, but the end sound i am setting as the goal is the same.
while the jumbo tonebender/big muff isn't a complex circuit in that its jsut a bunch of similar stacked gain stages, I do need to try and simplify it as much as possible to keep it in line with the Party Favor build ethic. which is to keep it simple. which keeps the party favors cheap (less parts is less $ and less labor which is also less $).

Maybe try omitting the tone stack, and replace it with a simple hi or low pass filter (trim), and then vol/expand on the dial. :) :idk:

Also Eric OT but, what type of label paper do you use, and I read that you use a brushed clear coat. Which one? I've been tryin my hand at enclosures and the sticker paper I used, when sprayed with the clear coat got bubbly and the colors got messed up... Any ideas?

maybe i wasnt explaining myself clearly, but with the tonestack omitted it is very warm. i just need to mess with cap values or remove some caps.

regarding sticker paper. i use/used Office Depot sticker paper. but they discontinued it very recently. so now i have to find something else!

i use brushed on minwax polycrylic. sometimes the label does bubble on the first coat. once the first coat dries i just press the bubbles back down. then it doesnt really bubble up again on the 2nd or 3rd coat. except on rare occasion.

the office depot guy told me that the closest thing to the office depot stuff would be a white Avery Waterproof labels, but i dont think it comes in full sheets. i think it does come in split sheets though, where theres a score in the middle so that its two seperate 8.5x5.5 labels. im gonna get some to try out

I can't tell if you're agreeing or trying to correct my grammar. If you're trying to correct my grammar, it really is "let's," since it's a contraction of "let us." If you're agreeing...sorry for correcting your grammar.
