Has anyone tried the Satisfaction yet?

Post by friendship »

I was reading that they designed some open slots on the circuit board to plug capacitors in for increased bass response or diodes for different clipping. Seems like it could be interesting, and I've always been curious about the Adam of fuzz.

If its an FZ-1 clone there shouldn't be any diodes in there. Output capacitor can be increased for extra bass.

Odd, it seems like it's the first version of the Fz1b. Note, only two transistors...and that would make sense with the diode option too.

ah sorry my bad! I hadn't seen the innards and assumed because of the name that it was some kind of version of the Ge FZ-1 or FZ-1a, but yeah 2 si transistors and clipping diodes means its something totally different!

Mine arrived yesterday. Only had couple of minutes to try it: so far super trebly but sounds good and inspiring. Build quality is ok. More gain on tap than i thought but also less sputtery than i expected. More to come when i get time to use it more...

I've also heard rumour that its a Bosstone clone.

This would be a very strange decision on EHX's part.

Easier than sourcing suitable germanium transistors for the maestro, or modifying the circuit for silicon transistors, though ;)

Yep, almost a Bosstone. They even have empty through-hole solder pads to add the clipping diodes, which means diode switching fun is easy. Looks like a pretty solid build for a cheapie, too.

Damn, I was hoping this was going to be an FZ-1 or 1A, because I've always wanted to try one.

Kinda weird to name it Satisfaction but make it a Bosstone clone.

Still, you don't see Bosstone clones often. :idk:

Played it longer yesterday: treble as fuck. I warned you all. But i love how it sounds. Could be a bit more fuzzy for my taste (w/ 6V6) but still a very nice different texture of fuzz. Will test it next week with the band. Should kill in some parts where the bass is taking care of the lower mids.
It def. doesn't sound like a FZ-1 (i have a jemrs)
For that price, check it out. No build quality issues as far as i see it for now.
