It has the slop feature that does exactly what I want "random detune, to simulate the instability of a VCO" I'll have to go hear it in person to judge for myself, but It's looking to be another expensive addition.... :P
BEWARE…DSI tend to put out half done products in regards to OS development. This may not be the case for the P12 but check out the DSI Forum for Tempest and Tetra owners that are left with 3/4 done products. I loved the Tempest but in the end I decided that I was tired of being taken on a ride by DSI. There is one programmer, Pym, who does the work on ALL of the operating systems for all of the DSI products. The poor guy is stretched very thin…they should have at least one more programmer...
Just picked up a Prophet 08 PE, I suppose the development on that is just about done, and I was torn between saving up more for the P12 or getting the P08 and..well. Heard real good things, plus just about every one of my favourite musicians uses one so I can't really go wrong can I? PSYCHED.
Yeah, I almost went for 08 PE last year, it does seem fairly well done. I guess really the bad OS's are the Tempest and Tetra. Not that either of them are incapable of functioning, it is that some major features that were promised have never come to fruition. I really bet that the P12 will be fully completed too since Dave is championing it as their flagship.
Still like I said before…Fuck them, they get no more of money. It is sad because I would like to support DSI.
It's just unfortunate that, when it comes to modern analog polysynths, my hands are pretty tied in terms of affordability. I wasn't a huge fan of the Tempest OS either, now that you mention it, for all their talk of intuitive workflow, it was exhausting trying to get anything done. I must say that it was incredibly well-built and a thing to behold though, plus the sound was almost worthwhile when you could get it up and running. Hopefully the knob-per-function P08 fares better in that respect.
I was told May/June for the Sub 37, if that's still a question. I;m probably going to pre-order one if I can raise the dollars in time.
Forrrest wrote:wait for sub 37 ????? will I be satisfied? Or go full hog for the voyager… it's so much money,...
Well, I had a Voyager Old School (same mechanics, no midi or presets) and as soon as I got the Sub Phatty the voyager pretty much just collected dust. The Sub37 seems considerably more featured than the old sub. PLus sequencer! You don't get that on a Voyager!
