Experimental/"out there" bass effects
Having almost finally gotten my fill of dirt for the moment (only a couple more!) and finding myself needing to buy a bigger board, my attention has turned to modulation and weirder effects to fill the new open space I have (TWSS). In addition to my Fuzzes and such, I have an EQD Hummingbird and an INFANEM Second Voice on my board. I know I want an Iron Ether Polytope and Nimbus, and some kind of pitch shifter/octaver (pitch bay? SubT?) As the second voice is basically a really crazy fuzz for me, and not a traditional octaver. i am also intrigued by the MASF Possessed but not sure how useable it is in a band situation.
Basically, what I'm getting at, I'm looking for recommendations of fun, interesting, unique, bass friendly effects. I play a wide range of tunes. Mostly abrasive noise rock, but some more Radiohead-esque stuff and hopefully some doomy stoner shoegazey stuff soon. So many things will work. I've just meticulously planned all my pedal purchases so far and I feel like I'm stuck until Iron Ether reopens, so I need fresh ideas.

Have you tried a Rainbow Machine on bass?
(I haven't tried it with bass, but it sounds great with guitar.)

That was my first GAS attack ever a couple years ago. Never pulled the trigger, just lusted from afar. Seems like it would be pretty fun. I would definitely wanna try it out.Chankgeez wrote:Have you tried a Rainbow Machine on bass?

EHX Superego. You'll be able to drone to your heart's content... and if you throw your hummingbird (or any square wave trem) in the fx loop, you can perfectly cop that raptio sound.

I'm really curious about it, every demo I've seen doesn't seem to explore the pedal's full potential, I know it's capable of something more than just corny magic wand sounds (right?), pretty frustrating.Chankgeez wrote:Have you tried a Rainbow Machine on bass?

I still don't really understand what the Goodbye 24 isrustywire wrote:Goodbye24

Yeah, honestly, I hardly ever hit the "Magic" switch.Fuzz_Pi wrote:I'm really curious about it, every demo I've seen doesn't seem to explore the pedal's full potential, I know it's capable of something more than just corny magic wand sounds (right?), pretty frustrating.Chankgeez wrote:Have you tried a Rainbow Machine on bass?

I think it sounds pretty fat for guitar. I'd like to try it on bass, but my bass amp's in storage right now.
