Your weights going to scale based on the rep range. When we do squats at oly we start with triples as warm up sets with increasing weight. Say 155 x 3, 185 x 3, 225 x 3. Then as we approach ~85% we shift to doubles so like 245 x 2 ect, then onto singles when we are at 90% or more to avoid repping out. Of course this kind of training is aimed at 1RMs rather than 5x5s.

speaking of deadlifts.

Got into the uconn gym, 135#, 185#, 225#, 285#, 315#, and 325# x 5 reps. 325# a new 5RM

Also hit some back squats, got up to a few sets at 225# mixing in 2-4 seconds pauses for a few reps. Got loads of stares for that.

Nice lifts Nick. :thumb:

I'm still sick but managed to get in for some back squats and rows last Friday. Felt weak as shit and light headed so had to cut it short.

Back squats: 240# x 5, 225# 4x5

Been walking like a gimp since.

I need to get a few 5x5s at 100 kg in. Ive been doing more 1-3 rep work at lower sets, progressing through weight to a heavy single.

^^^ That makes my butthole pucker.

I'm back...sort of. Decent workout, but I've lost some mojo on the bench and OHP. First time trying squat cleans - working on form and wrist mobility.

Squat cleans 155# 1x5; 135# 4x4
OHP 115# 5x5
DL 215# 2x5; 315# 1x5
Bench 185# 5x5

Dumb questions: how wide is your grip on squat cleans? This probably influences my wrist mobility...wanna make sure I'm doing it right.

Where do you line up the bar?

Wide. Its basically the same width as my jerk grip more or less.

Not sure if you can tell on this video or not but my hands are well outside my knees. Something we are coached on at OLY class. This will help to allow you to flex you arms outward and get your elbows through allowing you to put the weight on your front shoulders

Cool thanks, that's helpful. Sounds like I need to widen my grip.

So I've still had problems getting my power clean form down. For the life of me I can't get my arms right and it's kind of annoying.

HOWEVER

At the gym the other day I was able to do clean & jerks with proper form and one of the PTs who had been giving me advice asked how I was able to fix it so fast. I tried doing a power clean and fucked up the form but when I went back to C&J my form was great. He even looked confused as hell and told me to just keep doing C&J.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the biomechanics of this and I guess it kind of makes sense but even still I think this is very unusual.

being able to switch from power cleans to cleans and back and forth takes some time to get used to. Its a mental switch you have to acquire over time. Same thing with power snatch and snatch. However if you are at BW cleans, skipping the power is fine. For me at 205# (close enough to BW) I am always going to be riding that into a full squat even if I catch it on my shoulders above parallel.

Squat cleans are hard. 135# 4x5 and I crapped out on the fifth set.

Just keep swimming...just keep swimming...
