fuzz for vocals?
welllll i like using pedals on vocals cause well yea. i also use loops. sometimes i beatbox. turns out most fuzz's hate hate hate vocals. even when i loop them. it would be bad ass to have a gated fuzz or regular fuzz that meshes good with a mic. that i could use with the beatbox loops, and have fun. anyone have any brand experience with shit that works nice?

me and my friend are gunna start experimenting w/ this. the first pedal up is the TAFM. in my head i think it could be nice because of the separate dry & fuzz volumes.

Re: fuzz for vocals?
I've tried running vocals through pretty much every pedal I own. Vocals->fuzz generally sounds like crap. I liked it a lot better through bit crushers and ring mods.

Re: fuzz for vocals?
With fuzz, distortion, and sometime OD on vocals the key is a clean blend or layers. Keep the fuzzed vocals low in the mix. Moderation seems to work best.

Re: fuzz for vocals?
I hate that I recommend it for everything all the time, but the best results I've ever had with fuzz pedal vocals is the TAFM.
Like bc though I prefer bitcrushing.

Clean blend is good for reducing feedback, I've used a Bass Grunge and brassmaster clone with good results. I also tend to use old reel-to-reel mics, which pair well with fuzz, as they're lo fi and fuzzy or distorted on their own. Also unidirectional mono usually have a 1/4" jack and not as sensitive as a Shure.

TAFM is immediately what I thought of when I read the title.
I also used a Soda Meiser on vocals ones, could barely understand anything but it sounded cool.

I plugged my mic into an octavia clone once. Sounds exactly (EXACTLY) like a blocked nose.

Re: fuzz for vocals?
I pretty much agree with this. I've done a lot of vox thru pedals too, and fuzz pedals often get too muddy and woofy. I've had much better luck with overdrive and distortion pedals on vox. Also, are you looking for live vox or recording vox...?bigchiefbc wrote:I've tried running vocals through pretty much every pedal I own. Vocals->fuzz generally sounds like crap. I REALLY liked using the Mini for vocals with the gain cranked, so aaalmost a fuzz. Granted that was drones and wails rather than normal singing.

TAFM, Devi Ever Soda Might, Truly Beatiful Disaster. I use my Holowon/TheSyle Umiom to great effect. Soda Meiser does sound awesome on vocals, even though you can't understand much... I just double tracked it with clean vocals here:
