Rent a pedal?
Has anyone seen tryapedal.net? it seems perfect for trying out boutique pedals before you buy them, and there's a rent to own option. I'm probably going to rent a Pitch Bay this week. Anyone have any experience? Are there any hidden stupid things I should know about? Are they going to try to charge me for the whole pedal if it gets a little nick or something?

It seemed like a cool idea, but they never offered anything I was interested in.

There was another thread about this, probably a year or so ago... not sure if anyone tried it or chimed in with any experience though.
Youtube Channel?

A little pricey don't you guys think? I mean I get why but I can't see this taking off because of that. Not to mention the selection isn't that great.
Still, I'll prolly try it to test some EQD modulation

Yeah, this. IIRC the price was lower when it first was introduced? Maybe they hit some snags with broken/lost/stolen pedals and had to up the price? It is pretty expensive, especially considering if you rent any of those pedals for a week you can have some of them almost 1/4 of the way paid off.Fuzz_Pi wrote:A little pricey don't you guys think? And like Fuzz_Pi said it's just not that thrilling of a selection. It's like I expected to see all of the pedals on the list there.

I just saw that effectordie.com is doing rentals too. Prices look about the same though and it doesn't look like the selection is much different.

My wife made me watch that Sex and the City movie... Carrie's assistant rented a purse so she could be ballin' on minimum wage.....
This is kind of like that.... although I'm one to talk, I'm using a borrowed pedal and playin' it like I'm a fuckin' baller in the pedalboard thread......

You can rent pedals for free at Prymaxe as long as you have the cash up front and don't mind waiting a coupla days for your refund.
They even pay return shipping if you send it back in the first 14 days.

It became a trend at my high school for the gangsta fresh kids to buy these gucci/whatever designer sweatsuits made from towel material. They cost crazy amounts of money so they would keep the tags on and return them. Ive ruined a many towel suits from afar.retinal orbita wrote:My wife made me watch that Sex and the City movie... I dont have anything to say about pedal rental. I make no real contributions to this forum.

So what you're saying is "rent" from Prymaxe and then if I decide I like the pedal send it back for the refund and then buy from an ILF approved vendor, right?MEC wrote:You can rent pedals for free at Prymaxe as long as you have the cash up front and don't mind waiting a coupla days for your refund.

Re: Rent a pedal?
I just like the idea because I dont necessarily have the money laying around to "rent" from Prymaxe. 25 bucks for a week is a little steep, but maybe worth it to see if I like a pedal or whether or not it works with my setup. While it would be nice to see some more builders on the list, there are a few pedals I wouldnt mind trying out. And I wouldnt take them to a gig or anything. Maybe a full band practice to see how they sound in a mix.
On a similar note, there should be an ILF pedal library or something. Not a database, but something similar to this. There are so many things I want to try that Im sure people just have sitting on a shelf somewhere.
I dunno how well it would work. Maybe a random tourbox or something, with pedals from various awesome builders (IE, ss/bs, etc.) And then some smaller builders and stuff. Maybe this is already a thing.
Anyways, I'm probably still going to try this place out. I'll report back.

Man, I feel like this a lot, haha.psychedelicrelic wrote:I make no real contributions to this forum.
I'd be interested to see how the pedal renting thing turns out.
It seems a bit steep for me to try, though.
I would rather buy one used off of here and sell it/trade it if I don't like it or wanna try something new.
(I do that a lot, it's like all of my pedals are always being rented)
On the thing about a random pedal tourbox, I think one went on a little while back.
Seems like a really neat idea.
