Gibson GA-19 RVT--Should I get?

Post by ifeellikeatourist »

Hey everyone, I've been casually looking at getting a different amp for a while now, and I happened across a 60's Gibson Falcon amp at a local place for $299....what are your thoughts on these amps? It's got working reverb and tremolo, and seems to have no issues. I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet, but it seems to have everything I'm looking for in an amp, and the price seems good for what it is. I know these things aren't super desirable, but I like its vibe better than anything else I could get for <$300.

In case you're wondering, I'll be plugging a G&L ASAT into this, with a variety of fuzz and delay in between. I'm coming from a vox ac4, which I liked but didn't seem to have enough headroom for the pedz. Thoughts?

That's a good price as long as it doesn't need any costly maintenance. I played one in a shop years ago (2xEL84 I think it was), sounded nice and got plenty loud before any breakup so it probably does well with pedals. The reverb hummed like a sonofabitch on that one tho.
