Yah, it's addicting. I've got between $150 and $200 worth of records in my room, and I've only got 50 or 60 records with me. The other 400ish records back home, I don't even wan to think about how much money I spent.

It's all worth it though. :thumb:

Finally "finished" my record room. I need to get a few more patch cables for my recording stuff and maybe a little mixer, and I'd like to get some more artwork framed eventually too.....

Here's the view from my couch - I've run out of room for records so there's a bunch in the closet and in the basement, but the majority are here:

Here's the stereo, my little fender amp, etc.... I guess I need to build a shelf for my tapes too.

And here is the couch.... the Grave Upheaval flag keeps things brutal..... I got this couch from my wife's grandmother, it's fucking teak and built in Sweden yet not Ikea.....

Yeah, they're Expedit shelves. I hope to never have to build another!!

Can you believe they wanted to sell this couch? No fucking way. I used to go to my grandmother in laws house and eat Hungarian food, and she would force feed you beer, deviled eggs and sausage.... the first time I was there I fucking passed out on the couch after the meal and she said "you should marry this boy" because the ultimate disrespect for a Hungarian is to not eat and drink everything that's put in front of you.

There's a post in this thread early on of this room before it was restored. It looked like hell. Holes cut in the walls, wallpaper....

My Mother's mother was Austrian Hungarian & Czech. Similar story.
Deviled eggs, And more often than not, liverwurst sliced thin. The liverwurst HAD to be sliced thin.

bumping this back up.

i've been toying with the idea of getting into the tube amp world.. it'll be "entry level" i suppose, as i'm not trying to drop a ton of cash.

basically i just bought a new turntable and am thinking i might invest in a new amp/ speakers within the next few months.

i'm definitely new to the tube thing, as my old set up is SS and hand me downs from my dad.

is something like this worth getting? http://www.amazon.com/Gemini-Doctor-Gem ... rid_pt_0_2

any help would be much appreciated. after reading through this a lot of you guys know your shit

That looks pretty sharp. I don't want to consider tube hi-fi amps though. I'm not ready for that road.

I have no idea about tube HiFi amps really but that seems like a ridiculously good price on one considering most of the tube amps I see on Audiophile websites are at least $2-3k. Uncle Grandfather actually knows a shit-ton about HiFi stuff too, I'd ask him.

Right now I'm using a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon with an acrylic platter into a Pro-Ject phono pre and then in to some AudioEngine A2+ speakers. It's a solid budget setup but I want a standalone amp and some bigger speakers. That's a lot of money away though

Reminds me a lot of the Rega RP1 aesthetically. And that's a compliment.
