Dr. Z Z-Verb
Anyone have any experience with one? I was thinking it was time to invest in some spring reverb.

No personal experience, but it sounds good on that demo. I don't think it sounds $899 good though...

To me, $3-400 tops.Ugly Nora wrote:What would you reckon it is worth?
I'm still surprised as shit that someone hasn't gotten it together to make an affordable MIC reverb unit. Seems like a no brainer to me.

A local dude makes an all-tube reverb unit that is only $450: https://reverb.com/item/39973-sho-ampli ... ffect-unit
I've played and it's killer, probably as good if not better than the Fender '63 RI reverb unit I used to have.

Good deals on ILF: too many to list, just ask!

Yeah for me tops on that sort of thing would be $400 or so. For $900 I think you could buy a pretty killer amp with spring reverb.

You could keep an eye out for a used Fender unit. Or check out the VanAmps Sole-Mate. Or just get a Spring Chicken. Or do all three for less than $900 if you shop used, compare, then keep whatever you like best.

Re: Dr. Z Z-Verb
I have a fender RI and i'm happy with it. Sounds to me better than the vintage ones (more "wash").
BTW, stay away from the Soldano Unit: Sounds flat like shit.

Re: Dr. Z Z-Verb
I did look at the VanAmps Solemate, but the reviews I read, or at least 1 review said it wasn't good for drippy surfing sounds, which is something I would want. Also, I was interested in the Fender RI, but I read several complaints about it saying it sucks unless you replace the tubes. I don't know if those guys were being elitist or whatever, but I did see a few people saying that so who knows?
I have also been curious about this dudes stuff for awhile...he makes a reverb unit as well for $849.

Re: Dr. Z Z-Verb
Fender RI is surfy. Definetly.
I changes tubes but i like it with stock tubes more. And i did a cap job - nothing super Special but it gets more intense with this.
I would recommend to buy a fender RI used, do cap Job and buy pedals from The money saved.

Replacing all of the old capacitors in the unit. They usually need to be changed around every 20-30 years
