whiskey is to bourbon as hot sauce is to Tabasco. yes. i am implying that Tabasco is the Makers Mark of Hot Sauces. a creme de la creme if you will. Mexican Hot Sauce is da bomb. Texas Pete is a staple of many meat eating men. but Tabasco. it is in a class all by its self. Tabasco is the Grey Poupon of Pepper Sauces.

Tabasco is made in Louisana & aged in white oak barrels for 3 YEARS & the peppers are grown on a fucking island for christ sake. if you don't believe me just read teh wikipedia entry. only sophisticated condiments are aged in white oak barrels with peppers grown on islands. this is no mere "hot sauce."

i actually have a Tabasco teeshirt. i never wear it. you know why. becuz it is so beautiful & i do not want to get yellowarmpitstains on it. i cherish my Tabasco. i am a connoisseur & this fine & wonderful pepper sauce. it is a gift from god.

disagree. tabasco tastes like vinegar to me. as a hot sauce connoiseur, i am of the opinion that vinegar-less hot sauce is the best tasting. particularily if the little mexican guy on the label is wearing a sombrero. I have no idea why this is, but it's a fact. Find the man in the sombrero, and you'll find a taste sensation.

eff wikipedia. that shit is hilarious, though.

Wikipedia - Tobasco and the US Military wrote:During the Vietnam War, BGen. McIlhenny issued the The Charlie Ration Cookbook. (Charlie ration was slang for the field meal given to troops.) This cookbook came wrapped around a two-ounce bottle of Tabasco sauce in a camouflaged, water-resistant container. It included instructions on how to mix C-rations to make such tasty concoctions as "Combat Canapés" or "Breast of Chicken under Bullets."

sounds shrapnel-tastic. i love the smell of gunpowder in the morning.

Okay, if I can hijack this and turn it into a sauce thread...

is really excellent stuff! On burgers, chicken, etc...I only discovered it a couple years ago, but it's such an addictive flavor!

that's the classic steak sauce, right? it's pretty good for sure, if a bit salty for my tastebuds.

I see no sombrero-wearing mexican on that bottle, sir. i'm afraid it cannot be considered a "top shelf" hot sauce.

good point. it's a well known fact that thailand hotties are wonderful. they've got a pungent aroma and leave a burning feeling after you've had them.
