Fantastic strip clubs. Stay away from the popular places like Super Sexe, and go to the places that say "contact". One of my favorites is called Downtown :thumb:

ok... what exactly do you want to know?

there's a pretty decent music scene here... well, arts in general. lotsa theatre, visual arts and music.
year round, there's pretty much always some kind of festival going on somewhere in the city, especially in the summertime, when they unpredictably close off random streets for a week-long event of some kind. A few streets become pedestrian avenues during the summer months, as well.

umm... it's strategically located for touring, allowing easy access to four major cities: Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax & New York. The biggest issue, currently, is that a lot local venues are closing down, or are switching to DJ's. there is a push in the other direction, though. we'll haev to wait and see what happens.

if you smoke weed, it's pretty damn easy to find ganja and if you like other things, you can probably get those too especially in chinatown.
if you speak french, bonus. if not, it's really not too bad. the vast majority of ppl at least understand english, even if they don't speak it well.

i dunno what else to say. if you've got any questions, lemme know.

I'm considering an extended vacation as well, but to the U.S, with Portland, Oregon being my focus.

Oh, and in all seriousness, if you're planning to come here and I'm planning to go to the States, we should think about one of those "house swap" deals that high school students do. know what i'm talking about?

yeah see i was wondering about the French thing a bit. i would like to learn French. be fluent. i think that would be an added incentive (weed would also be an added incentive). i know a little bit about teh music scene. i little bit less about the art scene. i kind of want to know how easy/hard it is to live there, jobs-wise & stuff. i pretty much am unemployable so anything like dishwasher or something would be cool. enough to cover rent. i saw on one messageboard that like shared apartments go for like $400 plus utilities. which is a little high, cost-of-living for me personally unless i had a decent enough job to cover it.

also. Canada in general. supposedly has a horribly postal system. that would take some time to get used to.

i thought about wanting to move to Olympia WA or PDX (or just anywhere out west) but i don't i really want to do that now. i might as well stay here but i want to leave teh USA i am getting sick of this bullshit it is so fucking lame i am sick of the Obamatrons and the Dumb Bovines i have had ENOUGH !!! i want to just save up some money & just say peace out on some randall robinson shit...

I think the country is in almost terminal descent. The business class is combined with the evangelicals. And I think the evangelicals want to provoke an immense global disaster to precipitate the second coming of Christ. So they are very happy about what we’re doing to Iraq—and the menace we present now for Syria and for Iran—because they think that the apocalypse is an important thing to get into so that they can see vindicated their most literal interpretation of the Bible."

That's some terribly fatalistic shit. "Terminal Descent"? "...precipitate the second coming..."?
wow.

i don't know how much you pay wherever you live, but $400/mth for a room is pretty standard in MTL, TOR and VAN. You can find much cheaper, if you look. It really depends on your standard of living. Shit, I only pay $200/mth + $5 for internet. You can imagine the squalor.

Well planned transit system but poorly executed. There's virtually nothing that can be called 24 hour service, unless you consider waiting for a night bus that may or may not show up, 24 hours service. Good thing is that if you're not lazy, it's pretty easy and quick to get from place to place on a bicycle. there are lots of dedicated bike lanes, many of which have an actual concrete curb in between the cars and the bicycle, which is kickass.

There's lots of parks and parkettes... you'll probably find one per block, on average. There are several large parks as well, the most notable being Mont Royal.

Bars - tons of 'em.
Sexy girls - oh, hell yes.
What? - what?
