Yeah, there's no way it isn't just a rehoused Hendrix thing.

the vibe id one right :thumb: and so is the phaser IMO, and I'm picky about Phasers. It also sounds amazeballs on bass, which is actually what I'm using it on right now, its just got this perfect subtle throb which makes you feel like your recovering from getting punched in the head
Cool man. On your rig and with your tunings, I can imagine that sort of wave form would sound and feel just like that. The sea sickness would be unreal! :thumb:
Dude, that'd sound mad on bass. we should totally write a sub-scaled, blackened Robin Trower psych doom record. Vibe and phase ON EVERYTHING.
I'm picky about phasers too.

Just won a micro vibe on the bay for an ok price. I'll report back when it gets down here.

Ultimately, I like the Depths more. It is a bit more versatile, and works quite well with bass. Some people don't like the LFO of the Depths. To me it sounds somewhere between a sine and square wave. The MXR can really emulate the classic Univibe vibe, if you will. The Depths CAN do that, too, but is better at less traditional vibe tones. The MXR also has the bonus of the vibrato only mode. It think if you're looking for a straightforward Univibe pedal, the MXR likely offers an outstanding value. If you're looking for something a bit more unorthodox, consider the Depths.

That's a great comparison I'd say, I guess you're right on the LFO. :)
For me why I didn't like The Depths was probably because apart from the LFO supposedly being a bit more square wave like than usual, giving a more throbby sound (which I actually do like), that in the end it didn't really sound that deep and throbby to me strangely enough.
Not having a vibrato function / full mix control is also a real miss on The Depts I think, it can be so nice and would really make the pedal much more versatile.

This. I have a Depths right now, and I dig it for faster, almost harmonic trem sounds, but it doesn't sound as deep and juicy as I was expecting a vibe to.

It's a matter of taste though I guess, some well reviewed Vibe pedals don't sound that deep either, the Dejavibe and Microvibe come to my mind for instance.
The Black Cat Vibe and MG Vibe are just ridiculous, things started shaking when I used those but it can be a little much when used on distortion or fuzz for some people, especially with the Hendrix / Trower thing and all, I like it swampy so I don't give a fuck.
I remember the MJM Sixties Vibe to sound pretty good too but it's been a while since I played that.
Cool man, I can imagine The Depths does a nice harmonic trem. :)

Cool, thanks for the input.

From your description, it's possible that the LFO is a triangle wave. They sound sort of between a sine and a square.

It's definitely not triangle wave, but it's very hard to describe. There's a bit of a discussion of the quirks of the LFO in this thread: http://ilovefuzz.com/viewtopic.php?f=17 ... 3&start=30

Cool cool. Now that I'm listening to clips of it, it seems like an asymmetrical waveform of some kind, almost like it's a rounded off-sawtooth.

Neat sound.

If I were to get a vibe right now it would probably be one of the ones mentioned in this thread. The EQD sounds so different from other toob vids of other vibes. It's interesting that it is subtle to some of you guys. Judging by clips, I would think it would be pretty in your face and very present. Going to have to listen more :)

The waveform (it indeed feels a bit asymmetric) in The Depths makes it sound quite present (especially in the video's) but because the throb doesn't happen that much in the low end (not like the other vibes that I prefer anyway) it still feels kinda subtle in my opinion.
It doesn't really sound or feel like a vibe to me either, it's more of a light filter type of sound running through an LFO, there's other pedals like the VFE Enterprise V1 with the mix maxed and the MG Vibe in vibrato mode for instance that do a similar sound but better for my tastes.
Then again I'm generally pretty underwhelmed by the EQD modulation stuff (it all sounds quite subtle and dare I say a bit bland and boring to me) so it might be that it has a certain sound that just doesn't appeal to me, YMMV.
