Sadly I am not well versed in the eastern European languages. I want to visit Prague though, so I should probably learn a little bit about Czech.

czech seems hard to really learn much about unless your super dedicated. i don't speak more than a couple of words. you just kind of get where you recognize languages you've been around a bunch even if you don't know them. i've been to czech republic probably 6 or 8 times at least from touring europe. the band i used to work for most doing guitar and stage tech work always rented their vehicle and gear from a spot in prague so we always had a few days at the beginning and the end of tour to hang out there. it was pretty awesome. i once tried to buy coke from some dude on the street there and it turned out to be fake and that was real disappointing, but i probably didn't need any coke anyway. another time i got lost on the train trying to go see the bone church and that was real weird i saw some really crazy eastern czech post soviet towns and it was cool. last time i was there i got attacked by a parrot while i was drunk at one in the afternoon and it really fucked my finger up. long story, but you've always got to be careful when you're drunk in the middle of the day, no matter where you are.

EDIT TO ADD: you'll be fine visiting prague without knowing czech. pretty english friendly there. just don't expect that in the rest of czech. my advice would be to not buy drugs on the street; always check with the bartenders about what to pay for cab fare, cause the cabbies will rip you the fuck off for real; be very wary of any tropical birds that you see, and do not under any circumstances fail to pay your subway fare, even if the machine that takes your fare is broken. walk around a bunch. go see a show a 007, the best underground venue in prague; and enjoy the food, have a cheeseburger, which in czech is a burger made of cheese, not one with cheese on it; and enjoy the company of czech and slovakian women if you can, or at least the sight of them.

i had this same thing happen on an amp once. tubes blew and there was the sooty trace. i got a round file and between it and some sand paper i filed away the soot so that there was not a conductive trace. got it real cleaned up and got some new tubes and it was good to go. eventually i sold that amp to a friend. he still has it and has not had problems at all. the arc happened about 8 years ago. it's been cool since then. you may not need a new socket if you can clean up the old one.

Incidentally the advice I got from the factory ages ago was not to use anything but EL34s.
That may have been some arse-covering in advance though, ha.

Shu ghuang are great. I hear the Tung Sols are also tasty.
You won't regret it.

I run Tung Sols in my Soldano and love them but that is just the preamp section. I runn Sovtek 5881 but next time I retube I'm gonna try out Tung Sols all around. Demo coming today if'n I can round up some batteries. This Q2HD eats batteries like crazy.

I use JJ 6ca7s in my Logos amp and I really like them. They are not harsh at all and I would say try them out if you want to try 6ca7s.

I love when other people play amps with el34s in them, but I can never seem to dial out this certain harshness in them when I'm playing through them. It either goes from annoying dog whistle to too muddy to decipher. They say tone is in the fingers though so maybe my fingers are harsh and I'm a tonedeaf paranoid asshole.

Got to try it before I bought it. It is spotless in appearance but the power tubes are about 2 years old and the volume pot was a little scratchy from not being used in about a year. The guy said it can take el34 or 6550 with a bias adjustment (don't they need some resistor swapped out too though?). What do you guys recommend? I was thinking about a set of 6ca7s since I liked them in my Marshall so much but I saw on one forum or fb group that an el34b would take out alot of the harshness of regular el34. I've never heard of an el34b though. Anyway, gonna crank this sumbitch tomorrow and try to get a decent demo out of it.

Fuckin congrats dude!!!!! I myself would opt for 6550's.... but I like lots of low end in my power tubes.

EL34B's are newer tubes but they are readily available, their like the weber 65 or WGS et65 to a V30. Alight change to fix the one thing everyone has an issue with on the standard model, a lil harshness.
