Spent the day recording in the studio. Finished up my other guitarists parts except for one solo. He uses a screwdriver live and bows it across the strings. It is pretty cool as it also acts like a slide. But when recording a metal scraping sound is picked up and really fucks up the solo. So we need to figure out how to deal with that.

I also dragged my tele over to the studio and plugged it into my logos amp through an emperor cab. I am now kicking myself that I had not tried it before. It sounds great. My other guitarist told me it was the best sounds I have gotten so far. I'm really happy with it except for the bridge. It still has a bit too much twang. I ordered a seymour duncan quarter pound set to put in the tele and see how that goes. I just hope they are not too hot and keep the single coil flavor but get rid of some of the twang. One of the main reasons the tele sounds so much better is that it stays clearer compared to my humbucker guitars and doesn't push the amp as hard. So the logos is still nice and dark but now overdriving as hard. I am now also motived at gather funds to make the telemaster that I have been planning on.

Cleans are pretty important to me - I'd much rather spend time finding a dirt pedal set that sounds great than suffer through an amp that has substandard cleans, especially since I probably won't be in a position to run the amp wide open in the immediate future.

Have you guys seen this yet? My inner 14 year old self really wants to like this as Nailbomb and Sepultura were two of my favorite bands back then but really... the parts are bigger than the whole of this "supergroup". This sucks from what i hear so far. I'm waiting on the rest of the album, but I'm not expecting it to be any better than these two songs.

Sounds like all the generic rawk on the 'modern rock' station around here. Better than the uke playing, shimmering reverb, indie bullshit on the other station, but I still don't see the rest of the album winning me over.

If they are the same price then it sounds like the Marshall is a deal or the Carvin is overpriced. I would personally go for the Carvin since the cleans are supposed to be quite nice on them and I've heard they reasonably do well at lower volumes.

If you want loud and clean, there is a V2 in the BST for $650...

Anyone play a 2000s on bass?

I'm considering looking for one as a backup or even when I want to push something lower wattage than my SVT, like during a jam or a side band that isn't as loud as the one I'm in. I used to have a 200s and it was never loud enough. It would get a little too compressed and weird sounding when I pushed it over it's limit. I was considering a V4 again since I like my SVT so much, but fuck they've gotten ridiculous since I got rid of mine a few years back. My YBA-3 and Sound City 100 are doing just fine on guitar, so I don't wanna use those. So it brings me back to a 2000s. Specially after seeing a few Baptists videos. So I figured I would ask if anyone uses a 2000s on bass or has compared it to a v4, since I'm kinda going back and forth between those.

I'd go for the Carvin. The 5 band EQ can be assigned to either channel, so that's a load of flexibility. I've also heard they're surprisingly similar sounding to the AOR's, but with more bells and whistles. I've been contemplating picking one up, but lately my mind has been all over the place gear wise.

I use my 1200s for bass when I'm just screwing around. I think the 2000s is a very similar amp with just a small difference in the pre amp. I think the 2000s has a bass boost? where the 1200s has a mids boost.
Regardless the fucking thing is LOUD. Ridiculously loud. I'm running the Verellen (4x6550's) at about 75%, the simms at about 60% and the sunn at about 20% max volume to have them all at the same level.

Dude, thanks so much for the volume comparison. I never get replies like that when I ask shit. Good for perspective. The one thing I remember about my 200s is that the mids were lacking. Lots of bass and lots of highs but it was never thick. Specially compared to my YBA-3. But the 2000s has a contour knob that's supposed to act like mids, which I'm hoping someone can chime in and confirm.

I'll probably always get luckier finding a v4 for much cheaper than I'll ever find a 2000s, but who knows, I'm patient enough to find out. There's actually a V4 locally for $350 that "needs a new power switch" ....I'm having a hard time not hopping on that.
