Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Different branded drivers in same cab. So I see this is somewhat prevalent in guitar cabs but in not very familiar with this for bass cabs. So I found a brand new eminence cb158 on Craigslist and I don't think I'll be able to buy this and another new one for full price right now. Could I throw the one in and play until I get another? Same impedance different power handling. (Though I don't think the power will matter.)

My Whetstone is subtle before dirt (can't recall with fuzz though) but is definitely audible.samzadgan wrote:nice one mate!
I have a Sibling...and to be honest, that thing does absolutely nothing before Dirt...even after dirt its not as pronounced as other phasers, but it is nice. It also can do Vibe tones.
Hope the interview went well mangodontophobia wrote:I'm up bright and early because I have an interview that I feel like I should be awake, coffee'd and slightly prepared for.
After that interview I'm eating breakfast then using the rest of my day to enjoy getting riffed out. Will be trying the phase 90 before and after dirty. Might do the r28 mod, too. Anybody fucked with that at all? I'll probably check out the ol' youtube videos to see how it is.
AS YOU SHOULD. Seriously, 300w of Dunwich almost requires a Pharaoh. I had some time to get some riffs in this afternoon, and I am really impressed with the Ge mode. It really feels like this one has more gain than the first one I had, which was a really early one. Between it and the Zap Machine I have my fuzz pretty well covered on the Ampeg board...maybe I'll get a Ritual or Ape Blaster or another Dream Crusher just because though. So if any of you dudes are looking for a Black Forest, let me know since it may or may not be on the way out.Ancient Astronaught wrote:![]()

APE BLASTER. DO IT.
Odo: Hope your interview was all sweet, man. Re phase 90: mine has the r28 clip, you literally, just clip one side of the resistor and pull it away from contact. The proper script mod is a couple of extra caps from memory, but r28 is enough to make it sound way better....on clean tones. I prefer my phaser before dirt, personally, I think the r28 clip causes it to get a bit too subtle before dirt. Some of the dudes here that use small stones swear by that things ability to gel with the heavies, so maybe that might be the route to go. I've never played one, but my verdict on the 90 is awesome for cleans, meh for dirt. Could be the kind of dirt I'm using, or stacking or something. Could be I'm way too picky.
Also I'm selling my 90 cause I desperately needs cash. I'm not gonna list it here unless I can't move it on the bay. I need to be trying to gouge suckers for every dollar, hopefully the bay or gumtree can make that happen. If not, I'll let you guys know what the doom bro price, in case anybody is interested.....after I bagged it.
Can you handle 3W of dunwich? That's an awful lot of green tolex and wizard insignia for just 3W....

I mean, a nice tube direct box/preamp would be awesome.
I don't particularly need an OR clone when I have a real one, after all.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Yup. It's just clipping that resistor. I also thought about putting it on a switch but that requires some more work and I'm not that handy.conky wrote:I never tried the r28 mod when I had one. Thought about it but never got around to it. I'm not positive but I think it is kinda like the c6 mod on an SD1 where you just clip it out of the way. Don't hold me to it but when I was looking into it I remember it being really simple. If it is, it should be easily reversed if you don't like it.odontophobia wrote:The phase 90 sounded way better before dirt. When I hit it with the signal in the post-dirt section it was waaaaaaay too mid boosted and then distorted. I know the r28 mode will solve that but I'm not sure I'm set on it. The one demo I listened to was night and day different. But I had a sound I liked with it so I'm not sure how much trifling I'd be interested in doing.conky wrote:I played a show once with a band that the guitarist used a vtm 60. It was plenty loud but still I think I'd pass and go for the butcher. The guy playing the vtm didn't use cleans so I'm not sure that there would be enough headroom with 60 watts. The dirt tones sounded like Damad though which fucking ruled.
Also, I liked my phasers before dirt too. Sounded better that way.
Interview actually went really well. It was with my market boss and I got the job. I'll find out pay increase soon and then figure out how much more I can allocate towards gear.t-rey wrote:Hope the interview went well mangodontophobia wrote:I'm up bright and early because I have an interview that I feel like I should be awake, coffee'd and slightly prepared for.

I don't have a Small Stone to compare it to but so far, r28 still on board, before dirt, dial at about 10:30 or so, and I'm digging it. It sounds good on clean, really good on clean, and you can hear the phase quiet well. But when I hit it with the dirt it gets that sort of gushy almost underwater type sound with its wobbles. Fuck, that description might be awful but when playing some fast chords thrown together I liked how it changed it. And some big, sustained chords sounded pretty good, too.Iommic Pope wrote: Odo: Hope your interview was all sweet, man. But now I feel like I need a Small Stone to compare it to. I know Summit has one.... Anybody have any volume drop issues with their Small Stone?

VTM 60 worked well for Scott of Kowloon Walled City last time I saw 'em. Not sure what the other dude was running- I think maybe a Carvin....... Anyway, this was a while (and thousands of beers) ago, so...

Have you guys seen this yet? My inner 14 year old self really wants to like this as Nailbomb and Sepultura were two of my favorite bands back then but really... the parts are bigger than the whole of this "supergroup". This sucks from what i hear so far. I'm waiting on the rest of the album, but I'm not expecting it to be any better than these two songs.
