Re: Polytune Mini - Is everyone elses 3 square inches of shi
my sonic research turbo tuner is honestly some of the best money i've spent gear wise. it's awesome, reliable, super duper fast, and incredibly accurate. i don't know if you ever do setups or anything but it's awesome if you do, and even just for band stuff it's really nice to have the speed and that degree of accuracy. doesn't do the poly tune gimmick, but it rules. i wouldn't use that feature anyway.

^ Yeah, the Turbo Tuner is awesome. I scored one for free and the first time I plugged into it it freaked the shit out of me because there were no arrows or indicators except for the spinning circle and I had no idea what the fuck was going on. But once my brain kicked into gear and I figured out what it was doing it was sweet.

It probably is more accurate to tune individually but, for me at least, it's so so so helpful being able to just strum and check I'm still in tune quickly during or between songs when gigging. I've never had the slightest issue with mine and it's tiny and easy to read on stage, couldn't be more happy. I'm sure the turbo tuner/peterson strobe/pitchblack etc would all potentially work better for others depending on their needs though.MrNovember wrote:I have mine daisy chained with 7 other pedals, no issues
I don't trust the polytune part though; it just seems much more accurate to actually tune them all individually, and I really don't think you save time by tuning them at the same time

+1. The poly looks fine, but when you do the individual strings, they need a bit more love.MrNovember wrote:I don't trust the polytune part though; it just seems much more accurate to actually tune them all individually, and I really don't think you save time by tuning them at the same time
Back to the original question, When i have a high gain pedal on after the polymini, it makes a shitload of weird noises while I tune. But only when the tuner is being used, and the gain is high.

I've noticed it makes a lot of noise when you have a high gain pedal after it, but I mean, I kind of would expect a high gain pedal to go a little nuts with the signal muted anyway

I bought the mini noir because it was the coolest looking tuner pedal I could find. No issues here. i don't care for the poly feature either, especially since I have a mustang with a moving bridge. The regular tuning works fine though, tops my old TU-2 thats for sure.

i had the og Poly. hated the poly tuning part. never came close to working. individual strings was solid.

haha, interesting, the Poly mode was what initially brought me to Polytune in the first place
having to tune/check my jazzmaster pretty often, I find it excellent
i only use my full size Polytune between my dirt and delays, so i don't have any idea how it reacts to dirt pedals after it... yours sounds busted though

All the tuners mentioned so far are so expensive ;-; But i suppose if i wanna be pro i gotta get that .02 cent accuracy :P
Also finding it rather amusing to see all the big name ILFers weighing in on my little tuner problem :P

$30-$50 isnt THAT big of price difference. And when you're paying that much already, wouldn't you like it to work?

^what he said.
I'm running a regular Polytune right now, and don't have any issues with it. I have to admit that I mostly use the normal tuning mode, the poly not so often. But I like the Polytune so much, I'm going to put the one I have now on my bass board and get the Polytune 2 for my guitar board.

Faiiiirrr enough point. Well i probably will invest in some hardcore tuner then. And all the stuff about the polytune has been interesting in itself... That the actual polyphonic tuning isnt used a whole lot.... Interesting.
