best pizza in new york?

who has the best pizza in nyc? just curious.. if anyone has a strong opinion, let me know.

True! And I could eat pizza every night of a week from a different restaurant and never feel like I'm eating the same thing every night.

But I think the goal here is the generally agreed-upon NYC pizza places...with definitive classic New York City style pizza. Unfortunately, I'm clueless as to what those places are.

It really is subjective...it's like asking "what's the best fuzz"

The big touristy ones that people recommend are probably John's Pizzera, Lombardi's, Grimaldis, or Sal and Carmines.
Coronet pizza up near Columbia is also pretty good and the slices are as big as your head.

thats kind of the point though. im just asking what YOU think is the best pizza. no one will be wrong or right but i figured whoever get sthe most votes will get a stop from me. :-)

i went to this pizza joint in new york the last time i was there. its near chinatown somehwere....apparently they still use coal ovens which are illegal now but they got grandfathered in and this old italian dude makes all the pizzas. i dont remember the name of it but ill ask my friend who took us there. it was dope.

I agree with this soooo much... I'd love to spend a big part of my life, like 20 years, living this way... it would probably end my life too but you wouldn't hear me complain.

If I was in New York I'd really want to try the style of NY pizza that you always see on tv shows... it's really thin, comes in really big slices, looks like it only has tomato sauce and a small amount of cheese on it.. You always see it on sitcoms and NY shows, the NY thin crust barely topped big slice!

I'd avoid any fancy sit down places...
just walk up to any hole in the wall pizza place you can find with a few benches and discolored tables and order up a few slices of Ninja Turtle style pizza.

also, if it's within ten blocks of times square or penn station it's not going to be nearly as good as something from downtown brooklym.

there is a place in chicagoland that has the ninja turtle type slices called garibaldi's, you can fold em!!!

I agree with this guy!

Lombardi's does coal fired pizza and was really good when I was there. You can check out entirely way too many reviews at sliceny.com and there is one place I want to go, that now I can't remember the name but Di Fara, it is known for its insane wait times and there's just one guy working making all the pizzas
