Silver Tele Bridge Pickup?

Post by snipejd »

Does anyone know where I can get a silver tele bridge pickup (similar to the stock American Noiseless Tele PUP, soundwise)?
I know there's the GFS lipstick tube one - not that one.
Any reason I couldn't somehow paint my stock one silver/metaillic (covering the magnets of course)?
any recommendations here?

If you found a bridge pickup with a metal baseplate you could take a neck pickup cover, fold the tabs outwards, and use them to solder it onto the baseplate covering the exposed coil.

how would this affect the sound tonally - if at all?

Metal pickup covers can tame some high end. But it seems minimal from the youtube videos ive watched. Theres a really well done video that a dude did with a les paul with and without the covers. I'll link it laterz.

Would that work?

I thought the dimensions of the tele neck PU bobbin were significantly smaller than that of the bridge pickup, and unlikely that the neck cover would be an easy fit over the bridge.

Might want to see if Lace has anything that would work or your needs. Maybe a Sensor cover and some spray paint.

with the spray paint thing - wouldn't the chrome/silver spray or paint likely interfere with the magnets or the pickup in some way?

Would probably depend on what it's made of.
