My PC died a horrible death. I need a new one but I'm thinking of going the laptop route so I can work on things anywhere. I need it to be able to run my music recording / editing programs (Acid Pro 6.0, Wave Lab, EZ Drummer, ect.), Photoshop, and some audio video software for making videos. What kinda shit do I need to be looking for. Wanna keep it windows based. I'm a fucking dummy when it comes to computers so please dumb it down for me.

The portability of a laptop is definitely sweet, but with what you need in a rig to run all of that stuff smoothly, it'll be FAR cheaper to build a desktop comp. Plus, easier/cheaper upgrades. Use http://pcpartpicker.com/

About the most I do with video stuff is Windows Movie Maker and things like that.

Almost on cue a laptop has appeared in the BST section and I have no clue whether it's ample for whatcha need.

The right compressor will definitely mimic that sound. The Fairfield Circuitry The Accountant has the fat and bold tone of a pushed Matamp that's still clean, but has been rounded by volume, natural sustain and compression. It's not as dark or woolly like a Matamp, but it's in the right ballpark. The Pigtronix Germanium Philosopher's Tone might get you that sound better.

Cool - I really should check out a compressor sometime. Maybe try and find a cheapie Boss CS-3 locally to see if the effect is for me at all.

The CS-3 doesn't quite have the same effect as other compressors, but I guess it would give you a rough idea. If you can find an MXR compressor you'll get a better idea of what I'm talking about.

Also, here is a clip of the Kilobyte I recorded at stupid low volumes using my iPhone last night. Not the best quality, but you get the point. Rig was Ampeg GVT15h, 2x12, SG Classic.

Clip starts with Kilobyte, then Echobox w/vibrato, Echobox w/chorus, and Echobox w/o mod.

Oooh, that is lush as fuck! My interest is piqued. It works really well and isn't gimmicky at all.

And yeah, the Kilobyte rules hard. It should be getting a LOT more attention than it is.

So, I bought this to wire up one of my 412s (loaded with 16 ohm V30s), but I have no idea how to do it. I am an idiot when it comes to wiring/schematics. Someone want to explain how to make this work like I want it to? Also, how is it possible that one jack is for both 8 ohm stereo and 4 ohm mono? CONFUSED.

I might be wrong but maybe the 4 ohm mono only works at 8 ohms (two 16 ohm speakers?) if there's another load in the 8 ohm stereo right input. And someone else correct me if I'm wrong here, but if you're running one amp, you'll run it out of the 4 ohm input I thiiiiink?
