Cheapest powder coating out there/another question

Post by Jwar »

Hey guys! I recently started laser etching through powder coated enclosures and holy shit they are expensive. The blemished ones cost almost 9 bucks each. SO I was curious if anyone knows of a place that sells them for cheaper even if it's in bulk. I'm cool with bulk at this point.

I'm also looking anodized enclosures. Now I COULD do this myself, but it's be easier than messing with the chemicals to just buy them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Honestly most places I've seen or used are all about the same. Only way to really save, that I know, is to buy A BUNCH of unfinished enclosures and have them done locally (or diy but that of course costs more to get started).

Yea you're probably right. Didn't even think about doing it local. I would do it diy and may in the future, but it's not feasible right now.

Thanks!

You can get powdercoated actual Hammond 1590BB from Mouser. They have them in: Cobalt Blue, Green, Light Gray, Orange, Purple, Red, Yellow. Not the best discount, but here is the quantity breakdown:

1: $10.63
5: $10.00
10: $9.69
25: $8.95
50: $8.13
100: $7.97
250: $7.66
500: $7.50

The 100 at about $8 apiece isn't too unreasonable, especially considering they are non-blemished, and top notch quality.

I wonder if you could get them to mix-and-match if you call and ask really nicely.

i talked to a shady guy at a local autobody shop and he was super cool (possibly cause im a shady character too), and he told me he had another big order of the same color, so he did all my stuff (12 boxes, bars, points cover, sprocket guard) for $20
