Algal Bloom. It's got a nice balance between loose and tight, heaps of sustain but not too high gain. I don't necessarily think you need brutal amounts of gain for good doom tone. See above.

Honestly,
Buy cheapest fuzz pedal.
Turn gain down a bit.
Turn treble down.
Turn amp up a LOT.

:doom:

It's when you start to get nitpicky that it gets expensive. Full Disclosure, I got nitpicky. and I has no more moneys now

Sounds :!!!: though.

behringer super fuzz, mode one, cut some treable, don't let the gain knob go over 12oclock. The amp can't distort that much, and needs to be loud

The Biyang Muff clones in their various labelings (Biyang, GFS, Akai, and probably plenty more) sound like Muffs do and should be easily had for under $50.

Seems to me that typical scooped Muffs are for guys that use flat-mids amps with a Baxandall-ish tone stack. For typical Fender or Marshall tone stacks with some mid scoop, may be that you're better off with a fuzz without a mid scoop. Maybe a cheap DAM Meathead clone from BST or the Fishtank? [The Meathead is a close Fuzz Face derivative with silicon transistors: easy to DIY.]
