My ways are staring at schematics and lurking at diy forums. Arm-chair amp tech, mostly. Not that I'm against hanging with locals, but just disclaiming lack of ninja skills.skullservant wrote: TEACH ME YOUR WAYS/COME OVER AND HELP ME
If you want to throw up some gut shots, I'd be happy to stare at them to help figure out the IRL layout, lacking a Fender layout drawing. Knowing how it's laid out should be some help in figuring what else can be done in there. The trickiest thing for my recommendations will be figuring out where to wire up separate cathode resistors and bypass capacitors.

Well, it felt like Christmas this weekend.
Brandon's been knocking the cab out SO fast.
Just getting started:

Almost completed:

Headshell is reassembled and SOLID. One last sanding before stain and clear on that guy, and then the cab just needs speaker holes and a rear route for the speaker jack and it'll be stained and cured and cleared too!

Also, yesterday after service my pastor pulled me aside into his office and there sitting on his desk were two RCF 12" Mid-Bass Drivers. Apparently when he went to order new mids for his PA he needed 15's instead of 12's and bought the wrong size. Said that they weren't going to be used and couldn't be returned, so they were mine.
WHAT.
They're ridiculously close in spec to the Delta Pro 12a. 400w a piece, 8 ohms.
Side by side comparison:
RCF MB12G301: 8 ohms, 400w RMS, 50Hz - 3.0kHz, 98dB, 3" voice coil.

Eminence Delta Pro 12a: 8 ohms, 400w RMS, 52Hz - 4.5kHz, 99.2 dB, 2.5" voice coil.

Comparing the graphs, it looks like the Delta Pro 12a can go a tiny bit lower, but they're pretty awesomely close together. And for something new and something free, I'm not going to complain at ALL.

I agree! Brandon's doing an excellent job. I really couldn't be happier. It's going to be solid as a rock too!
I'm debating casters though. Part of me wants to put them on because this cab is going to weigh a TON. (both speakers weigh 17 pounds, so that's 32 just for the speakers, let alone the cab itself.
But my eventual plan is for Brandon to build me another one of these cabs and load it with Delta 12LFC's and stack the two together for a 4x12. So, if I got casters this one would have to be on the bottom. I dunno. Still thinking about it!

If you do, you can just put the sockets on both cabs, and just use the same set of wheels when transporting both. It's what my friend does with his huge cabs.

Talked to Brandon a bit more today. We're going to put a flame maple block on the grill that will have his logo on top of it, Emperor style. He said he wants to keep the flame maple light so that it contrasts the dark cab. I'm all for experimenting.
Cab was stained today!
