Ptd mini bone
So people on TGP seem to love the mini bone because it's so versatile and makes trombone sounds. I have listened to several demos and so far haven't seem anything impressive. I am not sure of I want a fuzz pedal to make trombone sounds. Anyone on here recommend this $230 fuzz?

If it was recommended on TGP. I can almost guarantee no one here will recommend it. $230 for a fuzz is unacceptable imo.

I played it but I think it blows, it didn't have any punch or balls to it I thought so anything I played through it felt like it was lacking.
That said, a friend of mine has got an older version with a toggle switch and only three knobs I think and he gets the best kind of rock distortion fuzz out of it that I could ever imagine so it depends I guess.

Love the thing. Wish I owned one. My first unique pedal was the OCD v2. I felt the mini bone to be the fuzz version of that.
Never played one but most the demos don't allow for much imagination. Backing tracks and delay are ao distracting.

I really like the minibone. I think it is a wonderful fuzzy device. It makes some sounds that I have not heard elsewhere - a great range of achievable tones. One of my favorites.

The Klon can do all that for $600 more AND make trumpet sounds too....

Where can you get a klon for $850? I though the lowest they go for is $1300 now.
I guess there is some love for the mini bone here. Those who liked it do you know of any internet samples of it sounding good?

i recommend not relying on forum recommendations but on your own ears. forums are cliques.the5chord wrote:So people on TGP seem to love the mini bone because it's so versatile and makes trombone sounds. I'm sorry but 250 for a fuzz is not that much money. It all depends on what your are getting. I have spent tons of money on fuzzes and some in that range are awesome, some suck. It just depends.
Never tried the mini bone, it looks cool enough. I've always been curious about his pedals.

You seem to be putting down it's trombone-y ness, but the Maestro Brassmaster was designed to impart a raspy, horn-like sound, and frankly I love my Malekko B:rassmaster. If you don't dig the sounds of the mini Bone, maybe you just don't like the pedal (though I agree, I've found the Trombetta demos that I've seen horribly distracting, and not terribly informative).
A better question might be "what DO you want out of a fuzz pedal?" you mention versatility - there are plenty of versatile fuzzes out there. What sort of setup are you looking to use the pedal with, and what sorts of sounds would you be looking for? Do you have specific genres or paying styles that you'd want it to work well with?

I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

Re: Ptd mini bone
The trombone sound doesn't really interest me but I haven't got anything against others enjoying it. My dislike of horny-ness probably stems from my childhood being forced into the brass section of the band rather than being allowed to play one of the devils instruments. A horn sounding fuzz might be seen as an ironic revenge.
I am just looking for interesting fuzz. Versatility isn't necessary. The EQD terminal currently has my attention. I have a superfuzz wattson clone and would like to try an fy-2 type clone. I was also interested if the mini bone had fans outside of TGP.

Re: Ptd mini bone
i've had a mini bone v.2 for 1/2 a year. i really like it!!
it does more than the "trombone" sounds , for sure.
i'm really impressed at how it cleans up on a guitars volume knob. i can set it for a crispy/gated fuzz with lots of gain .. and roll back my volume for some really useable tones. the note decay doesn't die off suddenly - it stays snappy/ and crisp. and it has a toggle for Normal/Bright/Dark to suit the/your snap. and a hi/low toggle.
i never bother with forum politics/trends. but i know what i like. and. i like it. i'm a member on Both Forums.

I know what TGP thinks of it. Just wondered it holds it's own farther away from the punch bowl.
