Taking skully's question one step further how does that fender style trem hold tuning on a 12 string?

Re: Let's see your GUITAR!
finished a tele build with a body I bought from Colossus in the the B/S/T. Nothing fancy, but I've wanted a standard tele for a long time.

I never tune 12 strings to standard, always at least a step down. I hope everyone else is doing the same.

Nicely. I have had no problems with any of them. I would not want to make one with a wizard neck profile, and a quality truss rod is a good idea, but I've had no issues long term with any of them. I would imagine that my playing style adds some magor stress to them. so far I have only had to replace a couple of worn octave saddles.

with locking tuners on there it does great. We do about 40 minutes to an hour for our set and I rarely pause to tune. I also lube the brass nuts and the bridge saddles with graphite. Makes them really slick. the drone strings are VERY stable. I notice the ones that anchor down in the trem block need more attention. Intonation I do by getting the lower note string dead on, and then adjust the octave. you might find one or two octave string end up being "good enough as you can run out of adjustment room. they get pretty damn close though and the other four should be perfect. Problems you might have would be if the nut is not cut to fit your strings and binds. You would also want to make the string cavity longer than normal to accommodate the extra tension.
I use 10 - 52 gauge, and keep the drone strings on the light side as well. tuned to C it has the feel of using heavy over sized strings.
Properly set up it's not that much more to deal with than a six string. I would not recommend them to someone who has issues with tremolo's or does not do their own setup work.

I may be dead wrong on this, but...aren't the wizard necks all 3/5 piece now? I thought the additional layers with opposing grains were supposed to strengthen while still remaining malleable, but resistant to warping?
Again, school me if I'm wrong...I shoulda looked this up before I posted....I'll do it in a sec.
I just like a good convo about Ibanez necks. Cause they're the best. Deal with that shit, haters.
Also, Skip, that tele is fucking evil.
I love it.
How do you find that Duncan?
Edit: More recent wizards are 5, older ones (super-wizards) are 3.
I was kinda right.

I had an Iceman with a Wizard 5 neck...one of the most regrettable things i did was sell that guitar...even worse was why i sold it and what i was buying in its place...a fucking Epi Zakk Wylde sig model...stupid stupid stupid!!!

You can bitch about the finish on some Ibanez models until the sun goes down, I'll pay that, but fuck man, those necks......
They got that shit nailed.

Why thank you sir!!! I love the Hot Rails, its got just enough output to be super crunchy, sting clarity is balanced, it has a TON of mids, and it sounds amazing both clean and especially dirty.

SPEAKING OF TELECASTER RAILS
This ended up happening last night. Same thoughts as Ancient. A decent amount more output, string clarity, cut (mids), great cleans and nice dirty tones.

Awesome, cheers Skip!
Yeah I've been considering them for the neck position in my strat (which will happen one day), but I wasn't sure as I wanted something guaranteed to do sweet cleans. But you and Skully are vouching for em, so they're definitely short listed now.
Was gonna pair with a Duncan distortion in the bridge.
This shit you guys have got going on here totally gets me hard for some Tele action though.
You both need to demo these for a rail shootout!

I was thinking more about the uber thin carve on those I don't really get to into Ibanez. I will say that I have played some nice ones, just they never appealed to me.
A laminate neck WILL add strength. I think it's funny that they tend to get looked down upon but they should be way stronger than you typical gibson (el snapomatic) Style construction. Goddamn there are some nice guitars being shown off! That EGC, the teles, I love the glue/ filler/ whatever that is. Looks very cool!

Oh they will def do good cleans, especially in the mid and neck position. And I think your on the right path with a DD in the bridge, it should pair nicely.
The rail pickup shootout is all ready in the plans good sir.
