It's a standard '62 AVRI. I've had two pair sitting in my parts drawer for a few years. I scooped 'em up on offsetguitars. Still have one pair sitting in the drawer. Hint... hint...

their actually very balanced with an output thats hot but not too hot, bridge pickup cleans are great and the distortion sounds are thicker than what I was expecting. Also the high end is very smooth, no harsh or brittle to be heard.

I like flats on bass, way better than rounds. I did not however care for flats on guitar. I might give it another shot though, the Jazzmaster I recently picked up came with a set of Fender flats and I don't see much point in letting them sit in the case forever.
I tried flats on the fretless bass that I had, and I felt like it rounded out the sound a little too much. I would like to try them on a fretted bass, however and see how that sounds
I know they're not for everyone... but I've found that flats really work for me. They take the (bad) edge off of Jazzmasters, but still maintain a pleasant high-end. I also like what they do with effects - they seem to bloom and swell a little nicer than any rounds I've tried.
If you do end up giving them a go, skully - try and give 'em a week. By day three, they should settle in and perform the way they will for the rest of their usefulness. Days one and two have an odd, muted brightness and stiffness that (I think) throws a lot of people off. It's not unbearable, but once you're used to them you definitely notice that difference.
i thought about that a lot, especially after i tried them on my jazzbox... that's hella different, though. I like how sharp and twangy my jazzmaster is, so they're probably a bad idea for me?

On the other hand, they do wear down a guitar something fierce. Had to replace a lot of saddles when I got a guitar that used to have flats on it for it's whole life up to me.
Ended up ordering some surf 90s for my jaguar. Just got done installing them + testing them thru my amp. Didn't see how it sounds with distortion yet, but sounds pretty nice clean.
