This is so much closer than I initially thought, mostly because I'm still 13 years old at heart and GodWeenSatan makes me giggle like a schoolgirl but The Pod is so, so good

Whoa.

Well, I guess that's not so weird. I mean, they changed so freaking much between Saucerful and AHM and then again to Meddle. They were a totally different band by that point. I personally only really like 3 songs of Piper, and could give or take the rest, but I feel the same way about Saucerful.

That's the dumbest thing I ever heard you say.
You can disagree without being disagreeable. I'd say they're about the same to me, but I'm not big on the Syd era, other than a few songs.

Agreed 100%. Piper is great, an amazing record but Set the Controls and Saucerful of Secrets are the most amazing moments Floyd ever hit on. I'd say Live Ummagumma is as good as SoS....

Better than Maxinquaye? I don't know about that.
Nope.

Maxinquaye IS fucktabulous, but PMT is the better record. Double-edged sword that it may be, it's where Tricky comes into his own - isn't relying as heavily on samples, covers (Black Steel makes Maxinquaye for me), or retreading stuff from Massive Attack.

This page has proved to me that at least a couple of you should have breathalyzers on your fingers.

I love The Floyd, all phases, but this is some straight up wrong headed wrongness of the incorrect variety.

OM - Converence > Variations
Sleep - SHM > Volume 1 (not even that great a record, really, I think)
Loop - Fade Out > Heavens End
UFO - UFO2 > UFO1
Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Tarkus > S/T
Amon Duul II - Yeti > Phallus Die (PD still amazing)
Rorschach - Protestant > Remain Sedate (both great)
DRI - Dealing with It > Dirty rotten
Napalm Death - FETO > Scum
Mrbid Angel - Blessed Are The Sick - AoM
Necros Christos - Doom of the Occult > Trine Impurity Rites
Impetigo . Horror the the Zombies > Ultimo Mondo Cannibal
Sabbat - Evoke > Envenom (maybe)
Root - Hell Symphony > Zjeveni
Gehenna - Second Spell > First Spell

motherfucking fisticuffs over that OM. How can you even pick a favorite over Variations, Conference, and Pilgrimage? That's the trinity right there.
