So I'm still on the fence about a second head, but I'm pretty much sold on a second 412. The cabs I'm looking at come in both the angled and straight variety. I'm pretty sure most of you lean towards straight cabs (given the rigs I see on the reg), but is there any inherent advantage to owning an angled cab, outside of saving myself $50? The cab in question is an Ampeg V412 cab, which I already have a straight of. I am aware that some come with shitty 50W SLM speakers, but the 2 cabs I'm looking at are the versions that are both supposedly loaded with celestions (G12T75s, if my research is correct). The guy who sold me my current one loaded it with v30s and I fucking love it. So the only variable I think is the shape of the cab and the stock speakers.

What say you, doom brethren?

usually slants are cheaper so that aspect rules.

one thing about the slants is if you use only the slant cab it help direct sound up to your ears instead of punishing your waist.

I like loading slants with two different speakers but instead of an X pattern ill load the less efficient speakers on the top so it helps offset the difference in SPLs.

(v30s on bottom greens on top fo LYFE)

but slants look retarded to me so double edged sword. also deep orange heads don't care for slants (sometimes theyre too deep) same with V2s or V4s depending on where their feet are installed. ive only had that problem once. . .

EDIT: but if theres a damn straight that's the same price im goin for the straight cab everytime.

It's a Miller Lite commercial. I JUST saw this while watching the daily show.

stack 2 slants sideways and you get a bit better dispersion of sound in a room, or just have assloads of straight cabs. I now have all straight, but only because they were much better cabs.

That area has a bunch of other bars as well. I'd track down a good Chicago-style pizza joint too. I've been to one but it was the touristy chain place, can't remember the name. I'm sure there's better if you google the subject.

As for guitar stores, Chicago Music Exchange is insane, like a museum of awesome gear and they aren't up your ass if you wanna try stuff. Rock and Roll Vintage is right down the street as well, smaller but cool selection, tons of pedals, and maybe even and EGC or two depending on timing. :thumb:
Oh Chicago Music Exchange! Forgot about that place. Will have to go to both/either/all of the guitar stores. I'm not very big on Chicago-style pizza, honestly. Thanks for the recommendations!

Also, Big Business and The Sword just crushed it. Jared jumped into the crowd during their last song and it was DELIGHTFUL and The Sword sounded fantastic all around.

So Conky, I wish I would have realized you were playing in atl. I definitely would have been there. That's too bad.

There's a 90's SVT-CL + 810en on my local CL for $700, tolex is beat to hell though. Hoping my tax return comes through ASAP. :yay:

Anybody know what to look out for with these amps? It's a USA built which I hadn't heard too many problems with but I haven't looked to hard either. :idk:
